all the ways to make her tick. It made their relationship that much more
vibrant, he thought.
“Drake?”
“Yes, honey?”
“Can we start now?”
He laughed out loud this time around. “Oh,
but I intend to.”
He pushed on her lower back so she was once
more lying down, her legs spread out, her lovely curves calling out to him. He
stared at her ass, the one he couldn’t wait to play with, and hoped his control
would hold. He wanted nothing more than to pound into her, fuck her until she
screamed and he bathed her with his seed. Not now though, not when he had a
much bigger plan to accomplish.
Chapter Thirteen
“Because you are Mine and because I am
Yours…”
Ambrotos (Translation by Jessica James)
He could hear the whispers in his mind,
taunting him with their eagerness to discover what was wrong with him, why he
was behaving in such an extravagant and altogether different way. He’d always
been feared by his fellow Immortals, his status of Guardian both revered and
distrusted. He knew too much, about everything and everyone, and they’d never
forget it. But now that he was openly showing Jessica around, they thought he’d
gone mad. Maybe he had for that matter, he thought as he pressed his hand on
her lower back and pushed her in front of him.
But he was still their Guardian. His gaze
stark, he made a point of catching each and every one of the patrons’ eyes.
They looked elsewhere, all but one. Spotting John sitting at a corner booth, he
knew his day was going to go to hell...real fast.
His grip tightening on Jessica’s hip, he put
himself between her and the would-be insurgent, his protective instincts going
on overdrive when he spotted the interest in the other man’s gaze.
A growl escaped from his throat when John
stood up to block their way. “Move.”
“Ah but Guardian, you haven’t even introduced
us yet.”
“Don’t make me hurt you.” His voice was no
more than a hiss, his right hand curling into a fist at his side.
“Drake!” Jessica turned, obviously shocked to
hear him sounding so mean.
“Don’t,” he said, moving to stand in front of
her. “John, move before I start getting angry. You know you won’t like the
consequences.” The words were barely out of his mouth when he felt a sharp
pressure in his brain. His head rose, anger sharpening inside him. The damn man
was trying to break through his mental defenses! “You wouldn’t dare.”
“But, I did.” John smiled, as if it was the
funniest thing he’d seen all day.
Unable to stop himself, Drake’s hands shot
out and wrapped around the man’s throat. “When is your plane due to leave?”
They’d been in discussions with the European compound for weeks now. They
wanted John to wait for his judgment there, rather than roam free in their
streets, creating mess after mess in a vain attempt to dislodge their First Man
from his position of power. Ever since the older man had attacked his Mate,
Jake had upped the surveillance on John, going as far as having him locked in
the basement cells for days on end. But the damn man had made connections in
his months spent with them, and they’d been forced to let him go. And now, here
he was again. But not for long, Drake thought. Not for long...
He watched John’s face redden under the
pressure of his fingers, his eyes bugging out of his face. “I asked you a
question,” Drake reminded him.
“A...a week.”
“Good.” He let him go. “Go home. Now.”
“You’re not my boss!” John snapped back, his
eyes shooting daggers.
“Of course, I am. I’m the Guardian. I can do
anything I want.” The threat was there. Anyone with a hint of a brain would
have understood. Don’t tempt me , his voice said.
“This is not over!” The older man shouted
over his shoulder as he strode through the coffee shop, his boots clacking on
the tiled floor. The door slammed shut behind him, and silence reigned once
more.
Until a little voice spoke up, “Can I get
