albeit small, infects my face. She is contagious in every way feasible, just a simple chuckle or funny noise makes my bad day dissipate and gives me a new look on life.
“Yeah.” I walk from the room and down the hall to where my office sits. I find my mobile on the desk and press the button on top to unlock the screen. Twenty missed calls show on the screen, all from the same number, the hospital.
I immediately go into panic, what the hell is wrong? What has happened for them to call me so many times? I don’t bother calling back I just grab my keys and head to the kitchen where Melissa now lies sleeping in Antonio’s arms. Her little lip poking out at the bottom, moving as she inhales and exhales. She is innocent, pure, and beautiful. I love her with a strength that is incomparable to anything else.
“I need to get to the hospital, can you look after her for me mate?” I ask him as I walk to his side and stroke Mel’s hair. It is so soft, like silk. I lean in and kiss her forehead, whispering in her ear so I don’t wake her. “Be good angel, I’ll be back soon with mummy.”
“Of course mate, what’s wrong?” He looks concerned, worried to an extent.
“I have twenty missed calls from them and don’t know what’s going on, so I’m going up there.” I tap his shoulder as I turn and walk away.
“Give her my love Leigh. I’m going to put little one to bed then go to bed. Georgia’s going to hate me getting back in all cold.” He giggles a little, but the love I see on his face at the mention and thought of my baby sister, makes me happier than I have been, since yesterday when I married the woman of my dreams.
“Sure thing mate. Thanks. I’ll keep you all updated.” I walk from my home and into my Bentley. I start the engine and drive away .

I arrive at the hospital within fifteen minutes, park and then walk to the ward I know she was last on.
I tap on the door before opening it. She is sound asleep as I enter, her body wrapped tightly in the white blankets.
I can see her moving and shuffling in the bed, her eyes fluttering against the lids sealing them closed. She is whining a little, whimpering sounds leaving her throat.
“It hurts, dad please, it hurts, stop!” She is shouting, her legs now kicking violently at the covers. “NOOOO!” she shouts louder, her one working arm flaying around. “Please!” she continues.
I walk over to her quickly, knowing not to shake her. “Baby, it’s me, wake up angel.” I whisper by her ear with no recognition that she has heard.
“STOPPPP!” She screams at the top of her lungs. Angry tears stream her pale face as she fights her nightmare. This is going to be hard, she has fought so hard to rid herself of the ‘darkness’ as she calls it. Now, after seeing her father again, it will all return, all of the hurt, anger and fear manifesting inside of her again.
“Abigail. Wake up!” I say sternly, her body stiffening a little. “Now!” I use the voice I know drives her crazy, the deep controlling Dom that is inside of me.
She shoots up out of bed, her body leaving the mattress. She looks around manically like she is lost and can’t find her way. “It’s me baby, it’s Leighton,” I assure her, walking to her side again.
“Leighton.” She looks to me and then bursts out in tears. She brings her knees to her chest and lets her head drop to them as she releases her nightmare into them.
“Shhh, baby, it’s going to be okay,” I tell her as I sit on the edge of the bed. I wrap one of my arms around her and pull her to me. “Everything is fine now Abigail. You’re safe.”
“It’s not fine Leighton, he has our daughter, he has our daughter GOD-DAMN IT,” she speaks, leading into a shout after she finally stops crying.
“Angel, listen to me now. We need to talk about some things.” I sit her up a little so I can be serious with her. I know she is still broken from whatever her nightmare was about but she needs to hear what has
