moments.
He doesn’t start screaming. He is clean. I pull the knife back to my hand.
“Here is what you are going to do. You are going to turn around and run down the alleyway. Don’t stop until you are well out of this side of town.”
He turns around and takes off at a full on sprint and I walk into the building.
The first thing that draws my attention is the screaming. It grows louder as I work my way inside. I turn around the last corner and I see hundreds of cages filling the main warehouse. Most of the cages are occupied with people in various states. All begging me for release.
I look to my right and notice the fire working its way back towards the people. Duncan was going to have to wait. I walk up to the first cage and inspect it.
“Get me out of here. Please. My family is here. I need to save them.”
    “Where are the keys?”
He pointed up front. Towards the fire. The car explosion doesn’t seem like such a great idea anymore. I sigh and head towards the flames.
The heat grows more intense as I get closer to the front. The screams are also growing more intense the closer I get. I have to make this quick, but I don’t know where to start.
I walk to the nearest doorway and look inside. I see two desks on opposite sides of the room. I open the drawers on the desk to the left and dump out the contents. I don’t see any keys so I go through the other desk. I reach down, pull out the bottom drawer and I spot a key chain. I grab the keys and turn around towards the back. In the doorway I notice a tall man with short black hair leveling a gun at me.
“Drop the keys, fucker,” he says, releasing the safety.
I smile and drop the keys. “You guys and your guns.” I focus my thoughts on the barrel of the gun and raise my hands in the air. The gun flies out of his hand and through the cheap drywall drop ceiling.
    Shit.
The man laughs and starts to walk my way. I back up towards the wall, the heat growing more intense as I close in. This room will be on fire within moments. I have to get out of here. I focus on the keys and pull them to me. If I have to run, I want to have them.
“Think you can save them all before the building burns, Father?”
“Can’t save them all. But I can keep a few of them out of your bosses paws.”
He laughs, picks up a chair and tosses it at me. I drop beside the desk as it crashes through the wall above me, sending a jet of flame into the room. I pull myself up as flaming pieces of drywall rain down on me. As my head pokes above the desk I see the asshole standing in front of me, lips curling into a snarl.
“Duncan wanted to kill you himself, but I don’t think you are going to make it.” He picks me up and throws me through the ceiling. I hit my head on the support beams above and crash down on the floor below. He starts walking slowly my way. Unless I do something fast I’m gonna find myself in hell a bit ahead of schedule. He picks me up again followed by a punch to my face.
The pain is immense. I won’t be able to take to take much more of this. I bring my hands up and try to push his head up, but he laughs and throws me back against the wall.
Eunie, I could use a little help here.
I look up and notice the hilt of the gun. I raise my hands up and start to focus on it. He brings his leg up, I guess to smash my skull in. I draw my hand back and close my eyes.
I feel the gun in my hands, my finger has found its way to the trigger so I pull it back and wait for his stomp.
The stomp never comes. I look up and notice blood pooling on his shirt. I put the gun down, pull the knife out of my boot and put it up to his chest.
“Now you are going to tell me where I can find Duncan, or you are going to spend the rest of your time in purgatory.”
“Duncan left. When he saw you searching the rooms. He sent me to hold you up.”
    “Where is he going?”
“I. I don’t know.” He spits up some blood. “He said he had to get out of here. His car is in the back
