and call Dave again. He might be able to dig up some family skeletons and answer a question or two.”
“Get him to contact one of my brothers,” Alex added. “My family should be able to make some discreet inquiries from the paranormal side. If you do have a nonhuman relative, they might have more chance to track them down. I doubt human records would keep information like that.”
Ronan nodded, grabbed his keys and some coins for the phone, and pressed a quick kiss to Kali’s lips. “Don’t have too much fun without me,” he said with a wink and then turned and left the cabin quickly. As much as he hated leaving her behind, he was suddenly impatient to get some answers so that they could get on with the rest of their lives.

As Alex locked the door and reset the alarm, he realized that at least part of Ronan’s reason for going in to town was to give him and Kali some time alone together. “Do you think he’s okay?” he asked Kali.
“I think so,” she answered with a smile.
“So this ‘knowing things’ skill,” he said with a wicked grin as he pulled her back into his embrace and ran a hand over her hip, caressing her through the damp towel. “Can you tell what I’m thinking now?”
She laughed, the lyrical sound filling the room. “Well…my skill doesn’t seem to be mindreading as such, but I’m guessing that your thinking has something to do with sex.”
    “You can feel my horniness?”
Kali pressed a kiss to his lips and then snuggled deeper into his arms. “Well, I doubt it’s a paranormal skill,” she said with an almost laugh, “but the hard cock pressed against my stomach gave me a pretty solid clue.”
He mock growled and ran his hands all over her ass, slipping the material aside so that he could squeeze and caress her soft flesh. He slid one of his hands around to her front, wedging it between them, his finger delving into her folds, sliding along her slippery flesh before pushing up inside of her pussy.
“I think maybe I’m developing some ‘knowing’ skills of my own,” he said with what he hoped was the right amount of humor, “because I do believe you’re feeling the same things.”
She giggled, stepped from his arms, and gave him a very serious look. His heart nearly stopped beating when she dropped the towel to the ground. “Do you think,” she said, biting her lip in a blatantly sexual tease, “that if I ran into the bedroom, you might follow?”
“I might actually beat you there,” he said with a wide grin.
“Good to know,” she said calmly. And then, with a gleeful laugh her only warning, she turned and ran.

Chapter Six
Kali ran into the bedroom, giggling as she almost made it to the bed before Alex caught up with her. His momentum took them down onto the mattress, but it was the way he tickled her that had her writhing with uncontrollable laughter.
“Uncle, uncle, uncle, uncle,” she managed to force out between giggles.
“Hmm,” he said, pretending to consider her plea. “This must be some of that human code that we demons have not yet been able to decipher.” It was quite obvious that he was teasing, but when his tickles turned to sensual strokes, Kali could barely breathe for a whole different reason.
“Do you think,” she asked breathlessly, “that you might have enough warning to take your clothes off this time?”
He laughed, kissing her ear before sucking the lobe into his mouth and tickling the flesh with his tongue. “It could be a possibility.” He slid down the mattress, sucking her neck as his clever fingers found her taut nipples and squeezed gently. “Although, if you keep moaning like that it might be touch and go.”
She giggled again, amazed to realize just how much fun she was having with him. Alex groaned, rolled off the bed, and onto his feet in one fluid movement. He dragged his clothes off, but she noticed that he pulled a small remote control from his pants pocket and kept it in his
