looking man. From where I’m standing, I can see remnants of Dec and Tabby in him. His once bright red hair has faded to a dull orange. His green eyes have also faded, and are glued to the film he is watching. Beside him, on a small table, is a plastic childproof beaker and the scraps of a sandwich. Crumbs have gathered where his shirt was bunched up. Beside him, fast asleep in his stroller, was a miniature version of his father, Kavan. Shit, the baby had grown since I last saw him.
“That’s Pa, I’ll introduce you to him. However, he’ll not remember who you are. That’s why I’m sleeping over. Once Pa becomes accustom to you, he’ll be easier to handle.”

“I thought they were never going to leave.”
Surprised by Rayven’s announcement, all I can do is gasp at the young woman, who was now feeding the hungry baby.
    “Rayven, don’t be like that.”
“Ivy, if you’re going to be a part of this family, you’re going to have to be blunt, and you’ll have to stand up for yourself. Otherwise, they’ll walk all over you.”
“Rayven, I’m not a part of the family. Dec has hired me to mind his Dad, while Mary goes away for a few days.”
Rayven’s extravagant roll of her eyes indicates her disbelieve in my role in the Gallagher family.
“So what you’re saying Ivy, is that you and Dec still haven’t screwed. You need to put that man and yourself out of misery and get it over with.”
When I didn’t answer immediately, Rayven’s gaze left her son’s to stare at me. A knowing smile spreading across her face like a heat rash.
    “Fuck. You did screw him.”
“Shush Rayven; you shouldn’t speak like that in front of your son. And besides, William might hear.”
Rayven’s tinkling laughter was not helping my nerves, and I wanted to leave the room and Comfort Springs. It wouldn’t be long before the other members of Devil’s Comfort would be aware that Dec and I had fucked.
“Does it really matter if we did or didn’t.”
Again, Rayven released a loud peal of laughter, which in return caused her son to chortle.
    “Rayven.”
“Ivy what you and Dec do, is up to you. But everyone will be watching. The man’s like a puppy around you.”
An image of Dec bent between my legs, licking at my pussy as he gave a deep growl, whilst I was tied to the bed, rose before me. The last thing I would have said about Dec is that he was a puppy.

Chapter 8
    “Ivy will be livid Dec.”
Frustrated by Tabby’s remark, I rub my hand over the top of my head.
“There’s no reason for her to find out.”
Unconcerned about Ivy’s reaction to how I’ve duped her into returning to Comfort Springs, I stroll into the club and search the room for Inferno. His message had been vague, and made reference to The Scarlet Runners and Sinbad. When I finally locate the club’s president, I notice he is talking to another club member. With a slight nod of my head, I indicate that I’m going to make my way to the room, which we use for chapel.
As I wait for Inferno, and the other officers, I cast my mind back to Ivy. After a long battle with Ma about my plans, she and Bridgett had finally made their goodbyes. Ma fretting about Pa, had begun to wear me down, and satisfaction rolled over me, when I finally see the SUV drive down the road. I’d promised Ma that nothing bad would happen to Pa, and that Ivy was capable of looking after the old man.
The only guilt I felt, was leaving Ivy with Pa so soon after her arrival. Thankfully, Rayven had said she’d stay over, and keep Ivy company on her first night back in Comfort Springs. The thought of Rayven and Ivy together, plotting and maybe Rayven letting it slip what I had done, that did scare me. As fond as I am of my little sister-in-law, she has been the most vocal about my plan.
    “Someone looks pleased with himself.”
“Oh, I don’t know Fudge, come back in a couple of days after Ivy finds out what he’s been up to, and see if Dec still has that same
