live life and not wo rry about the whys all the time, ” I say with resolve.
“ I understand, call me later, if you want. ” Megan smiles a keep - your - chin - up kind of smile a s she gets out of my car.  She has always known the right things to say and the right time to say them.  She is never one to pry and if you want to talk she is right there.  I watch her walk over to her car and follow her out of the raceway.

I ’ m b ack at Hutchington once again, walking down the desolate hall.  I must have been out of it because I didn ’ t even feel the charg e of energy in the air until Lisa bumps my arm. “ Hey, how are you doing? ”
I know my friends just want to make sure I ’ m okay ; I just want to forget about it.
    I smile reassuringly at her and say, “ I ’ m good. ”
“ I ’ ll see you at lunch, okay? ”   Lisa smiles brightly.
    “ Okay. ”
I walk into first hour.  Marc usually sits three rows in front of me; today he is sitting directly in front of me.  He looks over his shoulder and gives me a roguish smile.
Smiling back at him playfully , I say , “ So, first you have car problems, and now you are having seating arrangement problems, huh? ”
He laughs and replies , “ Yea h , some power of the universe keeps pushing me towards you. ”   He smiles innocently back.  I ’ m starting to enjoy his company, a lot.  That last thought scares me to death, but on the other hand I am very interested in seeing how things unfold.
After class I ask, “ Are you able to come to the track this Friday or did other plans get in the way? ”
He walks with me through the congested halls looking at me and says , “ How could I turn down the mysterious blue eyed girl? ”
I laugh at him and roll my eyes.  As we continue walking together he suddenly realize his next class is in the other direction, s o we go our separate ways.   My other classes go by without inciden t and I soon find myself sitting in fourth hour.
Marc isn ’ t in class yet like he usually is so I begin scanning the room.  I look over towards the door and see him with his back to me.  Someone is standing in front of him and it appears that whatever they are discussing is getting pretty heated.  I don ’ t boast about having supersonic hearing , but I can hear better than the norm.
“ Look, you ’ r e gonna have to back off, we are not dating anymore and I like it that way, ” h e says as he shifts his bag from one shoulder to the other using it to put distance between them.
“ Marc, just one date, you ’ l l see that we are really good together , ” t he girl pleas as she grabs his shirt and tugs on it.
“ I ’ m not joking, this has got to stop, just leave me alone. ”   He says as he pushes her hand away.
“ Just answer my calls next time. ”   She spins around and walks away.
That ’ s when I decide to tune them out.  I know a similar story and I really d o n ’ t need to get involved another one .
F inally , he turns from her and walks into class.  I quickly turn my head and randomly flip the pages of my book.  He walks over next to me and sits down, we both look at each other and smile but then class starts, thankfully.
After c lass is over I stand up abruptly, gathering my t hings, when he asks attentively, “ Are you okay ? ”
“ Yea h, couldn ’ t be better. ”   He laughs at me as if he didn ’ t believe me. “ What? ” I ask peering at him with one hand on my hip in an offended manner.
He says , “ The whole class heard Kelly and I, right? ”
I really didn ’ t think “ the whole ” class heard, they were talking quietly until the end of the conversation.
I give him a confused, dazed look. “ What do you mean? ”   He laughs again shaking his head.
“ You know you ’ re not a very good liar. ”   He stands up and we walk out of the room together.
Walking to our next class he explains further , “ Kelly and I dated for about eight
