cry, to not be upset at whatever the hell had just happened. But it wouldn't listen. It was worse because he hadn't chased after me, he hadn't stopped me. He just let me go. Angrily I pushed the bike, letting it fall to the ground with a thud.
    “Bastard.” I snarled.
I continued onto the road, taking the long slow walk back to the hotel. The sound of a motor bike sent a shiver up my spine, I turned back to the road behind me seeing nothing. A few steps into the vegetation that lined the road and I was hidden behind a tree. He passed me without seeing a thing, a tear escaped and rolled down my cheek. I couldn't deal with him right now.
The heat and the sun pounded down on me as I walked back to the hotel, making me wish that I had packed a bottle of water. I didn't even have a hat.
I cried out with joy when the hotel was finally in sight. My feet hurt, my shoulders and back hurt and I had a headache that was worse than any hangover. The air conditioning in the reception area was like ice on my skin, burning against me. Hal looked at me as I walked past the desk.
    “You're burnt bad.”
“Gee thanks for telling me something I didn't know.”
He shook his head and moved to the side of his little posting, passing a bottle of something to me.
“Keep it. Put it everywhere you are burnt. Where the hell were you?”
    “Walking back from somewhere.”
His eyes narrowed at me as he leaned on the counter.
    “Were you with Austin again?”
I nodded wishing he would leave it alone.
    “I might have walked back.”
“Am I missing something, because it's not adding up. Is his bike broken?”
    “No. I walked back, alone.”
Hal's eyes widened slightly, he moved a little closer to whisper.
“He doesn't know you're like this, does he?”
“No and you can keep your trap shut thanks.”
His lips pursed as his eyes narrowed again.
“Austin Gibson isn't the easiest of people to get along with, he keeps his life closed for obvious reasons but when he lets you in, you shouldn't dismiss it. I won't tell him that you're the same shade of pink as your sarong but you have to promise me one thing.”
I raised an eyebrow at him, looking at him like he was crazy.
    “Don't let go Abigail.”

Chapter Eight

I hadn't realized it at the time but Hal had revealed something that I didn't know about Austin. His surname. It was crazy but at that moment it dawned on me how little I knew him. As I walked back to the villa and ignored the people staring at the pink person walking past them, I thought about what Hal said. He keeps his life closed for a reason. But what was that reason? Did it have something to do with what Austin was talking about before I stormed off?
“Oh my god.” Monique gasped. “What the hell happened to you?”
“Nothing.” I snapped. “I'm going for a cold shower.”
“You had a fight with him, didn't you?” She asked as she followed me.
Monique the sleuth was on the case and I might as well fess up because she would hound me until she got the information anyway.
    “Yes.”
She sat on the vanity in the bathroom, looking over the after burn gel that Hal had given me. Waiting for me to tell her, waiting for me to become a blubbering mess. I turned the water on and stripped off, feeling the icy cold water against the burning heat of my skin.
“We went to the lagoon, we were in the water. Out of nowhere he says that we shouldn't be doing this, that I didn't know what I was getting myself in for.”
“What were you doing?” She frowned.
“In the water.” I shrugged. “I didn't have my top on but that shouldn't matter, should it? He was all over me before we left this morning.”
“I wouldn't have thought so.” She said dryly as she leaned back against the mirror.
I stepped back to let the cold water wash over my hot face, soaking my hair.
“Then Hal sees me and starts asking questions.”
    “Who is Hal?”
“The guy on the front desk. He knows Austin, how I don't know. He said that
