The aliens had chosen a new concubine about a week ago. Not
another one since, and I couldn’t help but smirk as I walked away from the exam
tents and my complete waste-of-time job of hauling trash to the incinerators.
Only lucky women could work here. Ha! As if I were lucky to drag barrels
after barrels of medical waste, food wrappers, and whatever else these gorgeous
wanna-be-concubines thought would be a good idea to bring in here.
On the way out through the now deserted stands, I scrunched
my shoulders. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. Someone watched
me. I was pretty sure who it was—the purple alien guard who seemed to see
everything, everyone. My skin tingled. It couldn’t be awareness. Not for the
big hulking descendant of those Neliousians who swept in and took over
everything. Nobody seemed to really know what had happened, war or famine or
what. The aliens had rounded-up all the survivors into one big slum on the
Eastern seaboard and put us all to work.
I hated all the tall purple people. But they were gorgeous,
I’d give them that.
But this one, the one I nodded at when I walked toward the
gates. The one whose dark eyes glittered as his stare followed me. The only
male who ever looked at me . The only male I gave more than a passing
thought. He made me want to see what the fuss was all about. Did they really
have giant, monster-sized cocks?
Chin hitched, nose in the air, I flipped him off as I walked
past him. As usual, he didn’t blink or say a word, but his gaze followed me.
A thought, a wisp of lust, crowded into my mind. Of large,
strong purple hands grabbing my waist and bending me. Of shoving a large thick
cock into my pussy. The thought vanished and a moan passed my lips.
My cheeks burned and my gut grew warm, but there was no way
he could read my thoughts. I didn’t turn to look to see his face one last time,
but I sped up to get away and whispered the insult he shouldn’t hear, “Fucking
locust.”
I knew he heard me. Every time.
My job was on the line, calling them what they were, people
who raped the Earth, but he’d never turned me in, not in the last two months of
calling him that every day he worked. I was here every fucking day. He was here
three days a week. I didn’t let myself wonder what he did those other days.
Outside the arena, a large, empty, fenced-off area kept the
potential troublemakers away from throwing distance. I crossed the empty space
between the stadium and the outer gate as quickly as I could. When I came to
the turnstile, one of the Neliousian guards barked at me, “Run your
identification through.”
I frowned. Usually I only did this coming in. Either they’d
changed procedure, or they expected trouble. Or something. Who knew? I shrugged
and took the card from the chain at my neck and ran it over the security pad.
For several minutes, I stood there as the bar remained
closed. I frowned even more and stared down at my work roughened hands.
Finally, the arm of the turnstile clunked as it unlocked and I passed through.
Whatever was going on, it didn’t involve me. Best not to wonder.
Even though they’d gone through extra checks and I had stood
there at least ten minutes, I didn’t need to look up to know that none of the
guards even glanced at me that whole time. Not like the one I sometimes called
my own when I fell into forbidden dreams. What was the point in dreaming of
having a human husband? I didn’t want to have kids with invaders ruling the
world. Mostly, I tried to ignore any urges beyond the one to survive until
tomorrow. Sex and love were for the weak.
But my alien guard was no longer there, no longer watching.
I knew because the hair on the back of my neck didn’t prickle and my nipples
weren’t
