was sure. He’d redshirted his first year, opting not to play with the team, only practice, because the starting quarterback was too good. Brian knew it had been a smart move. Ty would have wasted a year of eligibility sitting on the sidelines. But Dobby would graduate this year, and if Brian and Ty had their way, Ty would take the starting quarterback position next year.
Ty came into view, carting a girl over his shoulder. Brian had no idea who she was, but she was laughing and squeezing Ty’s ass, so she was clearly willing. Brian understood all too well everyone’s hard-on for Ty, guys and girls alike. He was amazing looking, tall, built, blond, and blue-eyed. He’d done a little modeling on the side for a local agency to make money over the summer. He was the stuff NFL dreams were made of, but he was also a terrific guy. Nice, friendly, modest. He’d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He had a smile for everyone, every day. And nothing ever upset him. He was as calm and cool as they came. Perfect for a quarterback.
“Brian!” Ty said, spying him. He veered to the right and came over, still carrying the girl over his shoulder. “Meet Janine,” he said, spinning so Janine could see him.
“Hi,” Janine said with a smile. She had long brown hair that was partially covering her face as she looked up at Brian. He could tell even from her awkward position that she was pretty in that Colgate-smile, eat-your-Wheaties sort of way that Midwestern girls had.
“Hi,” he said, as if this were a normal conversation.
“Want a beer?” Ty asked Janine over his shoulder.
“Sure,” she said, still laughing.
Brian did the honors, pouring two red Solo cups half-full of beer. Ty looked inside them with a frown. “Are we rationing the beer?” he asked.
“I am,” Brian said, passing the cups to Janine.
Ty just sighed. “Don’t spill it on my ass if that’s all I’m getting,” he warned her.
“I’ll lick it off,” Janine said happily.
“Now that’s an offer I can’t refuse,” Ty said, wagging his eyebrows at Brian. “Want to help?”
It took Brian a moment to realize Ty was talking to him. He was suddenly hot and flustered and felt conspicuous, as if the entire room were watching and listening. Which they weren’t. Ty’s antics were old hat to this crowd. They were eating and drinking and dancing and making out without paying any attention to what was happening in Brian’s little corner.
“I, ah, better not,” Brian said. “Thanks, anyway.”
“Ah, you know you want to,” Janine said, leaning around to look at him. “Oops. I spilled some. I think it went down your pants.” She giggled.
“I know it did,” Ty said, shaking his ass a little. “And it’s cold.”
Well, of course it went down his pants
, Brian thought with aggravation. The man wasn’t wearing a shirt to stop it. And that was causing more havoc in Brian’s overactive imagination. It wasn’t the first time he’d been aware of Ty sexually, but he’d never really been attracted to men before Ty. He wondered how many guys on campus were questioning their sexuality with those exact same words.
“If you’re sure,” Ty said, and he sounded disappointed. Brian didn’t take it seriously. Ty was probably in the mood for something kinky and just looking for the nearest available relatively sober guy he knew.
“But, Ty,” Janine cried out as he started to walk away. She was facing Brian and pouting. “I want him. He’s cute. Make him come.” She laughed out loud. “I mean with us. Make him come with us. Then he can come with us.” She laughed like that was the funniest joke she’d ever heard.
Ty stopped and turned back to Brian. “English majors,” he said with a little grin. “Always ready with the pun.” He winked. “The lady insists,” he told Brian. “Come with us. I want you to.”
“And do what?” Brian asked, playing dumb.
“Have sex,” Ty said, as if it was the most natural thing
