preferred name, but she focused on his question and just blurted out what was on her heart. “Horny? Forgiven? Sore? Embarrassed? Excited?”
His eyes twinkled as he listened to her answers. “Was it as scary as you thought it would be?”
She shook her head vehemently. “No. It hurt at the end and didn’t feel fun or good a lot of the time, but, overall, it wasn’t too terrible and it made me feel better. My tummy doesn’t hurt as much now. Honestly, I was really mad at the beginning. I thought you were going to do the whole spanking that light and I was really frustrated.”
“Well, I was trying to gauge your tolerance and also warm up your bottom. I didn’t want you to bruise.”
Bernie secretly hoped she did bruise, but she didn’t say anything.
He gave her a semi-serious look. “Is there anything you would like to say to me now that we are done?”
Bernie squirmed a little. “I can only think of clichés and I am not sure which one you want.”
Levi laughed. “Why don’t you give them all to me and I’ll let you know? I love a good cliché.”
Bernie rolled her eyes. “I’m sorry, sir. My behavior was deplorable and I shan’t ever lie again? Oh, Daddy, that hurt somethin’ fierce and I’ll be ever so good from now on! Or ooh, my favorite, thank you, sir, may I please have another?” She wiggled her tushy a little on that one and hissed again.
Levi pinched her cheek. “You, my dear Miss Douglas, are incredibly cheeky. Whatever should I do with you?”
Bernie wiggled her eyebrows. “I have some ideas.”
“No. None of your ‘ideas’ right now. I know where your mind is going, and we need to have several serious conversations before we get any deeper.”
Bernie pouted. “It’s not like I was going to jump your bones right this second. I just thought some cuddling with maybe a side of making out?”
Levi shook his head. “No, Bernadette. No making out.” He put his arms under her legs and stood, carrying her to the couch and sitting down with her.  “But, we can definitely snuggle. Cuddles are always on the table.” He held her close, stroking her back and kissing the top of her head.
Bernie sighed and reveled in his touch and the spicy smell of his deodorant. This felt very safe and happy.
After they had snuggled for a while, Bernie’s phone started pinging like crazy. She groaned and rolled off of Levi’s lap, grabbing it out of her purse on the dining room table.
Dude - wtf? - I just woke up.
Yes, I need my F-in’ keys.
Come get me - Club Boy was a dud and I’m stuck at his lame ass house.
Looking apologetically towards Levi, Bernie held up her phone. “Ash is ready for her keys back and needs a ride, so I think we will need to cut this short.”
She started feeling self-conscious about everything like she always did when it was time to say goodbye to a perfect situation. So, she turned and started digging in her purse as if she needed something really important. She started talking really fast. “But I had a really good time. Thank you so much for reaching out to me! That was really nice of you to take me home from the club last night and stay with me and… everything. It’s cool if you don’t want to hang out again. I totally get that it was a one-time deal ‘cause you’re such a nice guy. I mean, seriously, I totally get it.  I am not exactly the biggest catch in the sea, well I mean, I am probably the biggest catch, but not like the best, you know what I mean, uh, thank you and… bye?”
She was so busy trying to give him an “out” that she missed him grabbing a wooden spatula from the holder on her kitchen counter and, coming up behind her, bringing it down with a loud “Crack!” upon her bare bottom.
“Hey! Ouch!” She tried to turn, but he had an arm across her back and was pushing her down onto the table. As it cracked down again, hard on her other cheek, Bernie squealed, “Oh God! Stop! What did I do?”
He lectured and paddled her bottom
