    Eric took a deep breath. “I hope I’m stuck with you for a great while longer,” he said.
    Delaney giggled and poked him in the ribs. “Is that so?”
    Eric looked over at her and smiled briefly, but then his face turned serious. “Delaney, remember how I told you that mating was a serious thing for a bear?”
    She nodded.
    “Well, I have to confess that when we made love today, I felt bonded to you. I know this sounds crazy, but you’ve already stolen my heart. You are beautiful, spunky, and sweet. And I want you to be mine, for all time. I already know that I can’t live without you. I know sometimes it takes longer for humans to feel the same way, so if you need time to get there, I understand. But I want you to know how I feel. I want you to know the depth of my love for you.
