âSo what does he have planned?â
âWell, itâs early days yet, of course, but thereâs enough space for coaching all kinds of sports, not just athletics. Football, rugby, cricket, gymnastics, swimming â you name it,â Gareth said, then added, âand not just for boys.â
âGirls!â Adam grinned. âNow that
would
be worth coming back here for!â
âDoubt if Taffy would agree to sell it to him,â said Tom. âNot after what happened.â
âYeah â guess that might be a problem,â Gareth admitted.
âWhat about YT?â Jacko put in. âI donât suppose
he
will get locked up â heâs too young, and it wasnât really his fault. Perhaps he deserves another chance.â
âMaybe thatâs how Gramps will persuade Old Taffy to sell up,â said Gareth. âYâknow, if YT were allowed to live here and prove he can change his ways.â
âHope so,â said Jacko. âHeâs not a bad kid, really, once you get to know him.â
Gareth had done enough talking. âLetâs have a final jog around the track. Do a lap of honour!â
âYouâve
got
to be joking,â Tom protested, as everyone else jumped to their feet. âIâm gonna turn in.â
âOh no, youâre not, Tom-Tom,â laughed Adam, steering him towards the track. âI know what youâve got in mind â sneakinâ back inside for some more of that juice.â
âJuice is banned from now on,â Eddie told him. âA bit of exercise will do you far more good.â
âDead right!â agreed Gareth, breaking into a trot. âYou know, I reckon Gramps could be onto a great thing here â a real winner!â
âCâmon, guys, run!â cried Adam. âLetâs do it! Letâs go for gold!â
