sharpened. Marietta couldn’t counter. No one knew her rebellious nature better than him. He could raise hell and put his fist through every wall in Melanzana, and the damn woman would do whatever settled in that thick skull of hers. Not many men in his world would put up with a wife that tested him as much as his cara . He wasn’t like most men. And when it came to women, only one that equaled him in strength and stubbornness could own his heart.
Marietta owned him.
“Let’s not fight, sweetheart. I’m sick of talking about Armando. Fuck me, baby.” She scooted over. She removed her foot from his hand and placed each foot on either side of his chair. Her knees parted and the treasure before him made his loins tight with lust. Marietta untied her robe. Damn woman left the room with nothing underneath. He shook his head in admiration. “Didn’t you miss me, Lo? Haven’t you missed me, baby?” she said. She moved from the desk to straddle him in the chair. The heat of her pussy pressed down on his bulge.
“Mmm, you did miss me,” she whispered in his ear. Her tongue dipped inside and did a lovely swirl. Lorenzo exhaled through his nose. “You leave all of this home waiting for you, and the first thing you do is work in your office? Naughty husband,” she shook her head with disappointment. She began to unfasten his belt with her knees awkwardly pushed through the opening on either side of the chair.
He grabbed her by the chin and forced her to look into his eyes. But her fingers worked fast to down his zipper and pull out this cock. “I won’t forbid you from talking to him. Or even seeing him, which I know you already have.”
“You mean it?” she paused. Her hand froze on his dick and her touch alone made his breathing shorten and quicken. He again refocused his mind.
“I need you to pay attention to Armando’s questions about la famiglia business. And deliver a little information for me, when the time is right. Especially if he ever does or says anything that means he is trying to get closer to Gio.”
“But we don’t talk about you and the Battaglias. I don’t like the sound of this. You want me to spy for you?” she removed her hand.
“ Cara , he isn’t talking to you to be your long lost big brother. He’s prepping you, making you his ally.”
“I would never betray our family or you, Lo,” she said. “You do believe me?”
He chuckled.
“You do believe me?”
“Yes. Still there will come a day when he asks something of you. It will be something small, insignificant. Your first reaction will be to answer or give it. Has he already?”
She bit down on her bottom lip and lowered her gaze.
“What did he ask for?”
“A picture. A picture of Mirabella and me. He wanted to have one, something of us. So I tricked Mirabella into posing for one with me. I got the film developed and gave it to him. And he gave me pictures of my father.”
“And you did this without discussing it with me?” he asked. Marietta opened her mouth to explain but he cut her off. “I’ve taught you better than being so impulsive. Haven’t I?”
“Yes.”
“Damn it, bambina !” Lorenzo slapped his forehead with his hand. “Maybe I’ve been too liberal. Gio doesn’t have these issues because he and Mirabella have boundaries. Where are our boundaries, Marie?”
“We have them, Lo. It’s just that you can’t control me like he does her. I won’t put up with it.”
“You think I can’t control you? You think I don’t how?” he asked and the darkness in him surfaced in his eyes.
She lowered her gaze. Lorenzo’s ruthless reputation had been mentioned to her over the years. She heard the stories. But he never showed any of his rage to her. Not since their fated meeting when he discovered the cassette player in her purse.
“I’m sorry. I should have told you.” She wrapped her arm around his neck. “It won’t happen again.” She kissed his lips. “I promise.”
He pinched her on
