they headed back to the beach, with the waves buffeting them, as one steady step at a time he carried her to the shore with ease.
Once there, he stood her up gently, and when she swayed, he put his arms around her and held her close. Petra froze for a second, not really knowing what to do. She felt the warmth of his body as her breasts pressed against his chest, small electric shocks passing between them, igniting another heat deep inside her.
If they were going to make love tonight, perhaps this was the time. She had never had serious boyfriends, but that wasn’t to say she had never felt the usual sexual urges of any young woman her age. She had always wondered what it would be like to be with a man, but the time had never been right since the death of her father.
She looked up into his face, trying to see what he was thinking, as flashes of colour sparked along his cheeks. Tentatively she lifted her hand and pressed a finger to his lips, feeling the fullness of them. Niko stood still, as if he was frozen in this moment. Maybe he didn’t want to break the spell, or maybe he was like her and didn’t really know how they were supposed to proceed.
“Have you ever…?” She couldn’t finish the sentence. But he seemed to know what she wanted to ask.
“We have no females here.”
“Of course you don’t. It was stupid of me to ask.” She looked down and removed her hand from his lips, feeling slightly embarrassed.
Niko took hold of her hand and pressed her palm to his lips, and kissed, his tongue slipping out and licking her palm in small circles that sent her arousal into overdrive. The heat spread through her body and pooled between her thighs, where a dull ache made her realise how much she wanted him.
She stood on tiptoes, pulling her palm away from him and replacing it with her lips. He responded, parting his lips and moving them against hers, at first unsure, and then becoming more confident as she responded. His tongue ran along her lower lip and then parted them pressing forward into her mouth. Petra wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers stroking his hair.
In her childhood, Petra had seen old romantic movies, where the woman always said that the Earth moved when she was in the arms of her man. And that was how she felt now, as if the Earth was tilting, no, Karal was tilting, beneath her feet. Then she realised it was. The tide had reached them, it was circling around their ankles, trying to drag them with it into the deep ocean.
Niko pulled away from her, breaking their kiss. Then, with her hand grasped in his, he pulled her further up the beach. She soon saw why he decided to move. The tide was racing up the shore and had nearly reached their clothes. He bent down and scooped them all up with one arm and then they were racing towards the cruiser, and they were like children again, carefree and happy. Emotions she had not experienced since before her father passed away.
They raced up the ramp, still hand-in-hand and naked. She wondered what madness it was that made her behave like this. It was so completely out of character, but she liked it. She liked the feel of his hand in hers, she liked the way the salt on her flesh made it tingle, and she liked the breeze on her skin, which made the hairs on her body stand on end, magnifying every sensation.
As he led her to the hold of the cruiser, and pulled down some blankets that were stowed away on shelves, she knew what he intended, and knew she wanted it too.
So when he pulled her down to lie beside him, she did not fight him, and she did not fight her growing need for him. She had not entered the lottery, and had not wanted to come here. But here she was, and just as she had once done with every new challenge in her life, she made up her mind to make the most every single moment.
And enjoy every single part of her life with Niko.
