looked pretty good.
As I walked out of the hotel suite, I had to carry the skirt of my gown when I walked even though I was wearing stilettos. I made my way outside to find Dillon waiting for me by the car. He opened the door for me while commenting on me that I looked beautiful. I blushed and thanked him. He drove across the city and parked in front of a huge building where limousines and expensive sports cars were dropping people off who were dressed in the same type of attire as me. I took a deep breath as Dillon helped me out of the car, I was a little nervous. This was the first ball I’d ever attended, and not having Dennis with me at my side was not helping the situation any better.
I walked up the stairs to the entrance and was met by one of the ushers who greeted me and escorted me inside. He left me at the top of a grand staircase leading into the massive ballroom. I went down the stairs hoping I didn’t trip over my dress, which would be just my luck. I tried to keep up with the sophisticated women that were walking down staircase while also trying not to ogle at my surroundings. Everything about this place was stunning to me. Never in my life had I seen something so pulchritudinous. As I reached the bottom, I walked through the crowds of people that were mingling at the bottom of the staircase; some of them stared at me, which made me feel a little uneasy. Like I didn’t belong here, I tried to look for Dennis but I couldn’t see him anywhere. So I gave up and stood by a less crowded bar table and waited for him.
I noticed that everyone , except for those who were dancing had a Champaign flute. Wanting to blend in, I took a glass as a waiter passed by in front of me. Then out of nowhere some blonde haired guy that has been eyeing me ever since I arrived, said goodbye to his friends and walked up to me. You’ve got to be fucking kidding me! I thought as he approached me. He introduced himself as Henry. I tried to be as nice as I could as I told him I was waiting for my date. He seemed unfazed by that idea, probably thinking I was lying, so he continued making small talk and throwing down lame ass pick-up lines. I was about to walk away when I felt a hand that I knew all too well was suddenly on the small of my back.
“I think the lady said she was taken,” Dennis said in an eerie but calm voice. His furious gaze was fixated on the Henry’s neck, if Henry knew what was good for him he would leave me be immediately. Dennis is very possessive and territorial, especially when it came down to me. Henry looked over my shoulder at Dennis then turned his gaze back to me. He was about to continue talking to me till Dennis stepped in front of me and placed his hand on Henry’s shoulder, Henry suddenly winced in pain.
“Leave !” Dennis quietly barked and took his hand off the Henry’s shoulder. Henry quickly walked away without saying another word. I just stared at Dennis; he looked irresistible in his black tuxedo and bow tie. He grabbed then placed my still full glass of champagne on the bar table and looked at me too. I shook my head with a slight smile. “Well I must say, you look absolutely stunning in that dress.”
“You’re late.”
“I know, I know,” he murmured and wrapped his arms around my waist. “I’m sorry,” he whispered and cupped one side of my face then kissed me. I suddenly broke off the kiss, he always left me breathless but this time we were in public.
“Poor guy ,” I mumbled feeling anything but sorry. I just needed to change the subject, Dennis’s kiss had me thinking of other things I’d like to do. He laughed at my remark.
“What? He wouldn’t have stood a chance anyway,” he said as I raised an eyebrow at him.
“Oh really ?” I challenged. Even though we both knew he had every other man beat.
“Yes, because my game is a lot smoother than his,” he teased. He faked clearing his throat as I picked up the champagne flute and took a sip. “Do you have a map?
