the stuff that’s on the rumor mill.”
She would give him anything he asked for so she nodded and smiled. “I would like that, Kris, to learn about my new home even while I tell you the boring bits about me.” She looked up. “And believe me, I am very, very boring.”
Shaking his head at her as he cut his steak he snorted. “I somehow doubt that there is anything boring about you, Courtney. Besides, it doesn’t matter to me what it is, whether mundane or exciting, I just want to know about you, love,” he told her with a smile as he took a bite of his steak and chewed, watching her.
She began to eat as well, slowly moving through the food and grinned. “All right, well when I have to wake you because you fell asleep.” She shrugged. “This is good.” Another piece of steak on her fork she put into her mouth. “Very good.”
Grinning at her he continued to eat until all he had left was a little bit of salad. “I’m glad you like it,” he told her with a grin. “I’m big on the meats so every meal has to have some, it’s pretty much mandatory.” Finishing off the salad he shrugged. “And I promise I won’t fall asleep on you, or maybe I will just so I can say I did,” he added with a hot look.
“Meat is a good thing.” She grinned and shook her head. “And as for the falling asleep…” She shrugged. “I guess that it’s a sad, see I was really hoping that we could get all nice and to the skin so that we can really get to know each other?”
Grinning at her he straightened out his face and gave her a shocked look. “Are you trying to divest me of my virtue, woman?” he asked in mock horror. “What would my family say if they knew you were trying such a thing?” he said, shaking his head and tsking at her.
“You go girl, he needs to get laid?” she asked with a completely serious face that only crumbled into laughter at the look he shot back to her. She shrugged however. “But if you’re not interested, falling asleep while you’re holding me would be a good second choice.”
“Honey, I am most definitely interested,” he told her with a slow, soft smile. “I’m trying to be a gentleman, though. I figure if I feed you, we chat for a while you won’t notice in a while when I jump your bones and make you forget your own name.” Leaning back he crossed his arms with a smug look and nodded. “Uh-huh, that’s right, I am that good,” he said in a cocky tone.
She snorted and took a drink of her water. “Yeah, well I will believe it when I see it, Kris, for now eating is good and then talking is better and later, later we can see if you can live up to the name you seem to have given yourself, the one where you are god or some such nonsense?” She was poking at him, wondering how long he would take her teasing before picking her up and carrying her away to prove he was right.
Narrowing his eyes on her, he shook his head. “You are mean. No one told me you were mean,” he said tilting his head to watch her. “I’m thinking that we need to get some very important details sorted out right now. I am your mate and as such am a superior lover. You will be saying so later and I fully expect you to tell all your friends just that so the legend of myself grows bigger and wilder by the hour.”
“First of all, everyone has told you that I am mean, even me.” She placed her fork down and smiled sweetly, belaying the inner turmoil she was feeling inside. “Secondly, you are my mate, but I have no friends.” She really didn’t, apart from Lucy. “Well except Lucy who loves me unconditionally.” She shrugged. “I won’t be telling her how superior of a lover you are because honestly I don’t want her to send you a telegram or candy gram or whatever telling you good job for finally getting me to get rid of my virginity.” Yep, she’d dropped some bombs in her time.
Blinking at her he smiled slowly and appeared to just, just manage not to laugh in clear triumph. “Hot
