until they were both able to breathe again. Slowly, he moved her off
of him, got out of the tub, took care of the condom, grabbed a towel,
helped her up, dried her off, and got her to the bed before drying
off himself. Rachel watched his naked body move around the room until
she felt the bed dip beside her.
"Are
you going to tease me again, baby?" he asked.
"If
that's what happens when I tease you, I most definitely will,"
she answered, before closing her eyes and drifting off.
Chapter
9
When
she opened her eyes, she was alone in the huge bed, and the sun was
coming through the drapes. It took her a moment to remember where she
was. When she looked at the clock, she was shocked to see it was ten
o'clock. She never slept in that late. Where was Cliff, she wondered?
When she got up to go to the bathroom, she saw a note on the table
next to the bed.
Rachel,
I
had an early meeting. You looked so comfortable. There was no way I
was going to wake you up. Order room service. There's also a
restaurant in the hotel. Relax at the pool. I'll be back as soon as I
can get out of there.
Cliff
Rachel
did exactly what he said. She ordered room service before taking a
quick shower. When she was finished eating, she went down to the pool
with her digital reader. That was where he found her a few hours
later.
They
spent the rest of the day at the pool and cooking another delicious
meal together. Rachel enjoyed it more than she would have if he had
taken her out. They fell asleep after watching a movie snuggled
together on the couch.
Saturday
was their day to see some sites. They went to the Detroit Institute
of Arts and had an amazing time looking around. Rachel picked out a
few prints she wanted to get for her classroom. Cliff refused to let
her pay for them.
"I
agreed to let you take me out for the weekend. That does not include
things for my class," she snapped on her way out to the car.
"You
said I could pay for everything this weekend. There were no rules on
what counted and what didn't. I let you pay for lunch that day. I
don't want to hear another word about it. It makes me happy to do
things for you. Can't you just accept that?"
She
huffed but didn't argue with him. He drove to an Italian restaurant
one of the guys in his meeting told him about. It was a tiny hole in
the wall but was supposed to have amazing food. It did not
disappoint. On the drive back to the hotel, Rachel spotted a cute
miniature golf course off the freeway and pointed it out to Cliff. He
laughed as he got off the freeway and found his way to where she had
shown him.
"You
are amazing," he said. "Do you know that? I don't think
there has ever been a time I have taken a date to an art museum to
appreciate beautiful pieces of work and then taken her miniature
golfing only hours later. You are honestly a breath of fresh air."
"When's
the last time you played golf?" she asked.
"Golf
or miniature golf?" he questioned. "I played golf last
week. I'm not too shabby either. I couldn't tell you the last time I
played mini golf. It's been many years."
"Do
you think your high powered lawyer rear can beat me?" she asked.
He
looked into her eyes and couldn't help but laugh. She was being
serious.
"Are
you laughing at me?" she asked in a serious tone. "You
really think I'm no competition, don't you?"
She
could tell he was trying to hold back his laughter.
"I
didn't say that," he said. "I play golf all the time."
"Yes,"
she said. "You don't play mini golf all the time. There's a
difference, Cliff."
"Okay,"
he said. "If you say so."
Was
he messing with her, or was he being serious, she wondered? Rachel
swung her car door open and was waiting for him at the back of the
car. Her arms were crossed over her chest and her shoulders were
pulled back. When he joined her at the back of the car, he had a
smile on his face. That aggravated her even more.
"I
hope you brought your A game with you, mister. Prepare to get your
ass whipped."
Rachel
