“Vinny, to be my best, you know I have to have an outfit.” Luna started to come toward him.
As much as he wanted to back up, he didn’t, but he put his hand out, then he acted as if he caved. “Five thousand. That’s it.”
She squealed in delight, but launched at Navarro. “I’ll be fabulous!”
Vincent growled under his breath. Luna was so into herself she couldn’t tell how wrong it was to be embracing another man in front of her husband. She should fucking know Vincent wasn’t stupid and could plainly see they were being inappropriate. He shook his head. Luna was always so wrapped up in herself and she never saw what was obvious. But she was also sly and sneaky when there was something she wanted.
“You fucking don't come home for ten days and when you do show up it’s for money,” he growled, keeping up an act she’d expect, because she didn’t know he was so fucking done with her.
“The band!” she exclaimed, flipping back her long blond hair. “We've been practicing night and day.” The scheming look she glided over to Navarro was not lost on Vincent.
He had to say the next bit, and it killed him to do it. “Your pussy’s not available to me, I might go looking for fresh sweetness,” he threatened, like he cared and had no clue they were cheating practically right in front of him.
Luna’s gaze grew into glittering green daggers as her lips pursed. He would never fucking understand this part of her personality. She didn’t want him, but no other woman could have him either.
She immediately walked into him, planting herself against him, grabbing his hair to tug his head down. Then, right in front of her lover, she tongued him for a full minute, while he fought to let her and not push her away. This should be the last time he ever had to touch her.
“After my standing O, pussy to celebrate,” she growled at him in a way she thought was sexy. He did not. He grabbed her ass, grinding once.
“If not, I get my own sweetness,” he threatened again, shaking her. Her nails curled into his neck, biting, as he added, “And you leave that sweetness alone.” She started to shake her head. “I’ll call Sam off—” he started.
She exclaimed, “No! Okay.” Then she added, “It’ll never happen, because I am so good at this. Everyone loves me. You’ll see!”
Luna unlatched from him and skipped back to a scowling Navarro.

T ess watched the bride and groom taking their champagne drink with entwined arms, at the reception in full swing. She was standing to the side, swaying slightly, in a lower-lighted area of the large ballroom. The music was good and it made her feel good to watch the bride and groom celebrate with their family and friends. She should have gone home by now, but she was afraid to run into Steven and Luna again.
So a moment later, when she'd became teary-eyed watching the newlyweds kissing, she was surprised to be holding back a sob. Not wanting anyone to see, she clasped a hand over her mouth and grabbed her middle. She turned with the intentions of snatching her purse, and then running before a sob could really break loose; however, she walked right into a solid wall of immovable man.
She squeaked an exclamation of surprise as strong arms came around her. She didn’t want to look up because of her falling tears, but she’d seen the words on the man’s tee shirt, and she’d just know the feel of Vincent anywhere.
“Let me go,” she muttered, trying to push free of his arms. She couldn’t budge him and he only tightened his hold. He turned her to the wall, where it was darker, and he grasped her chin, lifting her face up. She scrunched her eyes with hot tears falling.
“They're not fucking worth it.” His voice rumbled over her while his thumb caught her tears, moving from one side of her cheeks to the other. She sank into him, accepting his comfort. “Baby,” he uttered, and she felt his lips touch her temple.
