and his smile dropped.

“What’s up, little nigga? You been watching me all night.”

Kayson didn’t respond. He kept his eyes locked on Mano. They were now in a stare off. Mano was getting frustrated that he wasn’t even fazing this young boy. Taking his arms from around the two women, Mano got closer to Kayson. “Damn nigga, you act like you wanna give me some pussy.” Kayson didn’t blink. Mano’s boys were moving toward him and Kayson. At the same time, Rabb looked up and noticed the exchange.

“Oh shit. Move!” he yelled at Nikki, pushing her aside. Rabb moved swiftly through the crowd with his boys on his heels. When he got to where they were standing, he quickly threw his arm around Kayson’s neck. “Ho, ho, ho. What’s going on?” he asked, trying to bring some calm to the situation.

“Ain’t nothin. Just trying to pay tribute to a fan,” he said, still not breaking eye contact.

“This is my nephew, Kayson, it’s his birthday. We just gettin' a little celebration in. He was probably just checking out all those fine ass females in your corner,” he said, tugging at Kayson’s neck in an effort to get him to calm down. All that went up in smoke when Mano pulled a move that was disrespectful to the highest order.

“You better be lucky you’re my man’s nephew. Go buy yourself some ass or something.” He reached in his pocket, pulled out a wad of twenties, and smacked Kayson in the face with them. The money flew all over him and rained to the floor at the same time. Heated, Kayson reached for his gat, ready to blow the whole fucking building up. Niggas from both sides moved in.

“It’s all good; we came here to have a good time,” Rabb said as he grabbed Kayson and pulled him toward the bathroom. He gave Jay the eye to dead that shit.

“Chill, Kayson, he’s just drunk. Let that shit go. Let’s go back out there and enjoy the rest of the night.” He patted him on the chest. “It’s all about you tonight.” It damn sure was and Mano had just paid for it with his life.

So there they were, face to face again and this time, Mano was ready to shit himself. “What the fuck you want?”

“I thought I would take your advice.”

    “What’s that?”

“I bought some ass. Was it good?” Kayson asked with a smirk on his face. He had paid his girl, Tomeka to keep that nigga on ice.

Mano sat thinking of his next move, but the shit was looking grim. “This is what is going to happen. I want the Heights. And I need you to make it happen.” Kayson reached into his pocket, pulled out a burner, and dialed his boy, Aldeen.

“What the fuck you talking about?” Mano asked as fear set into his soul. He was sweating and breathing heavy.

Kayson locked one in the chamber, pointed the gun at Mano’s now shriveled dick and said, “Your brother is Steve, right?” Fear came over Mano’s face. “Yo, put that nigga on the phone.” Kayson hit the speaker button as Steve yelled out in excruciating pain,

“Ahhhhh. Okay. Okay.” Aldeen had him hog-tied and was beating him in the head with the butt of a gun.

“Nigga, you better not hurt my brother.” Mano tried to assert himself.

“Hit that nigga again,” Kayson ordered into the phone.

Mano could hear his brother yelling in agony. “All right, little nigga. I’ll give you what you want. Just spare my brother,” he pleaded.

“I’m going to hang up and I want you to call your supplier and let him know you have a new man in charge. Then set up a meeting. Then all of this will be over in a matter of minutes.” Kayson looked at his watch.

Mano took a deep breath. “A’ight. When will my brother be let go.”

“As soon as you handle your business. But if we don’t call that crazy nigga back in five minutes, your brother is a dead man,” Kayson responded. He threw the phone at Mano and he caught it in his hands barely missing the water. Mano
