explained.
â€œInteresting,” she said. “So you’ve memorized what people’s names mean?”
â€œI learn the meaning of the names of the people close to me,” he said. “Just so happens that my sister’s name is Nicole.”
    â€œWell, I’ll be damned.”
â€œNo, you won’t. At least not over you and my sister having the same name.”
She smiled at him and he smiled inside. He had her. His strength was getting women to listen to him. He almost surely would have a different, fresh approach that would disarm them, make them forget about his age and inspire them to focus on what he said.
â€œSince you said I’m too young for you, why are you talking to me?” Nikki said.
â€œI didn’t say that. I said I’m probably too old for you,” he answered. “That’s different from you being too young for me.”
â€œHow young do you think I am?”
â€œToo old for R. Kelly,” Elliott said, and they laughed.
â€œFor right now, I’m not even going to ask why you like young women,” she said. “I’m going to guess you’re at least fifty. Everyonein here is in their twenties and early thirties. Don’t you feel old?”
â€œThe only time I feel old is when I ride my stationary bike too long,” Elliott said, “and even then, it’s just my butt feeling old. Not my body.”
â€œWho are you here with?” Nikki asked.
    â€œYou,” Elliott responded without hesitation.
â€œSir, you’re old enough to be my father,” she said. “In fact, you probably would really like my father. He can’t sit still, either. Always chasing. For that reason, I’m glad my mom isn’t around to see him.”
â€œYou lost your mom?” Elliott asked.
â€œYes,” Nikki said. “Lost her to a rich African.”
    They laughed.
â€œShe got remarried and moved to Ghana three years ago,” she continued. “I talk to her and we Skype. But I haven’t seen her in person since she left.
â€œBut that’s beside the point. You’re too old for me. You mess around and get hurt.”
Elliott said, “Age matters only when you allow it to matter.”
â€œHmmm,” Nikki said. “I like the way you put that.”
â€œYou’ll like a lot more once you get to know me,” Elliott said.
â€œYou’re definitely confident,” she said. “Older men have come on to me many times before. But they always tried to offer me money or to pay my bills or buy me stuff. What’s your angle? Why should I get to know a man probably twenty or twenty-five years older than me?”
â€œI’m offering you me,” Elliott said.
â€œYeah, but who are you?” Nikki asked.
â€œSomeone told me a few minutes ago: that’s for me to know and for you to find out.”
Nikki laughed and shook her head. “So what do you suppose I do now?”
â€œYou certainly shouldn’t leave that up to me.”
    â€œYou know what I mean.”
â€œLet’s go have a drink and talk some more and after that, if you don’t want to communicate with me, no problem. But I’m having a drink. You probably should have water.”
â€œLook at you, being noble. Most men would have tried to fill me up with drinks.”
    â€œI hope that’s not true.”
â€œI can tell you some stories.”
    â€œI’d rather hear about you.”
Her cell phone that she glanced at often vibrated. “Excuse me a minute,” she said while reading and then sending a text message.
â€œMy friends are in there for the concert. They said Chris Brown just got on stage.”
â€œDon’t let me stop you from enjoying the show,” Elliott said.
    â€œYou’re not going in?”
â€œI was, but it’s going to be too loud in there for me. Plus, I don’t know any of his music. Now, if it were the Isley
