would rule the world. So, we talked literature, politics, and we talked Africa.â
âSheâs Nigerian too?â
âSheâs African, and that is all I will say. I will not name her country. She is brilliant. She knew things I have yet to learn, and as we sat in the coffee shop, she seduced me with her intelligence. I could tell then she was being more than the normal friendly. It was cute. It scared me too. She was so much like the woman I want to be when I am older. Her wanting me, I think that turned me on. A woman excited me. Iâm so over that.â
Kwanzaa and Ericka stared at her, stunned by the admission.
Ericka asked, âAre you telling the truth, or is this one of your jokes?â
Destiny said, âThat rodeo show Indigo described sounds about right, Ericka.â
Kwanzaa groaned. âYou too? Is that also included in your catalog of depravity?â
Ericka asked, âDestiny, child, are we running at fifty percent on that pop quiz?â
âDid you see me waving my hand in the air? No, you did not. Indigo is the one of four.â
âThen how would you know what
sounds
right?â
âI can tell you what I saw in Hoosegow, and thatâs that a lot of pretty girls were up in there, and a lot converted. I watched other girls seduce girls, and that was some weirdness for me. I saw girls impress other girls, get them to talking, get them laughing, then they are making out like itâs no big deal. They have so much Bambi-sexuality up in those joints its crazy.â
Ericka said, âLeave Bambi out of this, Destiny.â
Kwanzaa said, âDonât spoil my childhood memories, but what is Bambi-sexuality?â
Destiny sighed. âBambi-sexuality is when they kiss and feel each other up, but donât go all the way. They use each other to practice some parts of foreplay. But sometimes the heat is too much and it goes to the next level. Some were making scissors. Iâd see girls who had been turned out, when their girl was set free, become the one who was trying to turn a new girl into a scissor lover.â
Kwanzaa raised a brow. âWhat are scissors? You said scissors and Indigo said scissors. What does that mean?â
Ericka said, âJesus, Kwanzaa. Even I know what that is.â
Destiny said, âGoogle it, hit Images, and be prepared to see a new world.â
Indigo said, âBefore we go on, let me be clear and set the record straight. I am not
converted
. Taking a weekend vacation to London wonât make you British. Iâm not British.â
Destiny teased, âSure youâre not a hasbian?â
âWhat is a hasbian?â
âA has-been lesbian.â
âOne can be a has-been?â
Destiny said, âYou learn about another world in Hoosegow. Itâs not charm school.â
âWell, I didnât learn about that world in Oklahoma,â said Ericka. âAll I learned was the Bible and weed.â
âI believe you, Indigo. You are two-timer with one girl. I donât think youâre a LUG.â
Indigo asked, âWhat the hell is a LUG?â
âLesbian until graduation.â
âDonât insult me with your foolishness.â
Destiny laughed hard. âItâs cool if you are. How you roll is how you roll.â
âWhat I did will never happen again.â
Ericka laughed so hard she cried. âLesbian until graduation. Will she get a degree?â
âI dropped out,â
Indigo said, then pointed at Destiny. âYou sure know a lot about the lifestyle of women who like women. This person youâre seeing, the one no one has seen yet, is a man, to be clear, right?â
Destiny laughed. âMight be fun for you and lobster girl, and I am not knocking what you did, you like what you like, but thatâs not for me. I like beef, not seafood.â
Ericka tried to calm down. âI canât imagine Indigo like that, with a woman acting like she was a man.
