his head telling him he was going to be a beast in the game if he ever decided to join forces with the rest of the family.
He knew going to see his brothers was the only way he could kick his confidence into high gear. He not only wanted their blessings, he needed it to survive in th e game.

    Chapter Six

The next morning Samir got up bright and early so he could make visiting hours. He heard his mother already preparing for her day, so he decided to go spend a few minutes with her before she headed to the office. Once he made it downstairs, he found her in the kitchen, making breakfast.
“Morning , mother, who are you cooking for, your new man?” he joked
“Boy , please… I wish. I decided to get up early and cook for you since you have a long day ahead of you. I couldn’t send you to see the boys on an empty stomach.”
“Well now … thanks lady. It smells good and I hope you made everything I like.”
“Boy , did you forget I’m your mother. I’ve been feeding you since you came out the womb. I made your favorite, blueberry pancakes, sausage, grits and cheese eggs.”
“Thanks mother, but who gone eat all this food ? You made way too much food lady.”
“I know Samir . For some reason I woke up this morning and starting cooking and all I could hear is you in your room and your brothers walking through the door just to come eat their momma’s breakfast, like they did every morning. I started cooking until I realized that you were the only one of my sons I still got left,” she sobbed, with tears in her eyes.
Samir never wanted to see his mother hurt and it broke his heart seeing the tears fill in her eyes.
“Ma, don’t worry, it’s gonna be okay. They will be home sooner than you know it. Don’t stress yourself, and stop crying. We gotta be strong to help them stay strong through this bid,” he said, as he hugged her.
“Whoa, isn’t this a turn of events. My baby boy is consoling me.”
    “I’m not a baby anymore , ma.”
“I know you aren’t , but I kinda wish you were. Sit down and eat.”
As he sat down to have breakfast with his mother , he noticed her staring at him. He couldn’t imagine what was on her mind so he decided to break the silence. “Ma, why don’t you come with me? I know they would want to see you.”
“No, I can’t dear. I have to prepare for this case and I have to be in court later this afternoon.”
“Well, do you want me to tell them something for you? I know you miss them.”
“Just tell them that I love them and miss them and I’m praying for the day they can come home. Let them know I’m here for them and I pray for them every single day.”
After his sit down with his mother, Samir got dressed for his visitation with his brothers. He normally dressed quickly, but today was different. Although his brothers where in jail and in county blue, he felt the need to impress them as he did when they were in the world, so he decided to pull out a white, Giorgio Armani polo style, collar shirt, a grey Roberto Cavalli cardigan and a pair of Purple Label Polo jeans. He completed his look with a pair of grey Salvatore Ferragamo sneakers that Ace bought him for his birthday a few months before. He topped his ensemble off with a gold Hublot Geneve time piece. He knew his choice in designer labels would impress his older brothers who often teased him about his urban style of dress and he felt it was a good match for not bringing negative attention on him when he arrived to the jail.
His nerves began to set in as he stood in his mirror. He didn’t want his brothers to flip on him but he also didn’t want them to be upset with him. Just like he felt with his father, their blessing was all he needed because their approval wasn’t in the fore front of his mind. He was adamant about his decision , despite how his family felt. He made his choice and he was set on proving that he could handle the game. He
