betrayed his wife; hiring Julie had been a mistake.
“I need to know the truth; I need to know what has been going on between you and Julie. I know it’s been something.” She was crying now and he didn’t know what to do. He was speechless and didn’t know whether he should confess or not. If he told her everything it would be over between him and Julie and possibly over between him and Megan. He would lose everything. But on the other hand maybe she would forgive him and they could just move on. Jordan was torn as he looked into his wife’s broken face. She looked so sad he hated what he had done.
He couldn’t let it go yet though, not quite yet. He wasn’t sure why he decided to continue to lie to her, was it so he could continue to fuck Julie or was it because he wanted to continue on with his marriage without scaring Megan’s heart. That was the last thing he ever wanted to do was to hurt her that deeply. She may never forgive him.
“Nothing has happened. I know it’s been a little weird and Julie and I seem unusually close but it’s just because we have worked together so much. We are just friends and she is great at her job.”
“I don’t like her. I don’t like how you look at her.”
“I’m sorry Megan; I didn’t mean to hurt you. Guys are stupid around women. I will be more respectful from now on.”
She lay there silent and he hoped that she believed everything he said to her. He had a lot of thinking to do and he decided at that moment that he would take tomorrow off to distance himself from Julie. He had figure out what it was that he really wanted. He couldn’t do that with her around. He couldn’t do it with her trying to climb on him all the time. It was only fair to both of the women in his life for him to figure out who he really wanted to be with. They both deserved that much.
“I need you to seriously consider letting her go. I know you feel responsible for her but you could find her a job with one of your friends that way she doesn’t have to go back to walking the street corners.” She laughed at her own joke, but Jordan was unable to join her. He closed his eyes feeling like a real jerk. Now the poor girl was going to lose his job because he hadn’t kept his hand off of her.
When he didn’t reply she said, “Jordan will you consider it for me?”
    “Yes Darling I will.”
They lay there together, Megan nuzzled warm against his side and he felt great, peaceful and satisfied. This is the way it should have stayed. This was the woman of his dreams right there in his arms.
The doorbell ringing startled them both.
“What time is it?” Megan inquired looking for her phone.
“I don’t know it’s late. Stay here it must be someone from work, maybe Jeff had an emergency.”
She started putting on her clothes as he slipped into his pants and headed for the door shirtless. Once there he unlocked it and swung it opened to revealed Julie standing there. Shocked and alarmed that she was there at his personal residence unannounced he just stared at her speechless. She looked a mess, her eyes red from crying. He hadn’t seen her since the night before so he couldn’t imagine why she was crying.
“Julie, what the hell?” he whispered harshly.
Just then Megan came up behind him and he jumped when he heard her voice.
“Oh my God, what the hell are you doing here Julie?”
Julie’s lip trembled. “Jordan, there is something I need to tell you.”
