She was ready to shine, she was ready to be famous. Until one day, all her dreams came stumbling on her. She exhaled as she thought about it. Back then, she was angry, disappointed even mad at the creature that was growing inside her.
Remembering the disappointment she saw in her parent’s eyes when she told them, hurt to this day.
“They tried so hard to make me successful.” – She thought as she remembered she hadn’t talked to them in over 3 years. “I crushed their dreams too.”
As she was walking home, her phone vibrated. “Who could possibly be texting me this time of night?” – She thought, as she took her phone out.
A text message from Sophie. Damn it. Anne has done all that she possibly could to stay away from her. Sophie had a very different life than she has, Sophie was Max’s sister, Anne’s best friend from high school.
“I just don’t have the time for you know.” – Anne thought, opening the text message. She read it and stopped. Then she read it again. And again.
“I’ll be home this weekend for the wedding. I want you by my side. XO, Sophie.”
Anne exhaled deeply. All the Webers are certainly coming home this weekend. There was no more ignoring them.
She put the phone back in her pocket and picked up the pace to go home, after all she was paying the sitter per hour.

Anne walked in her small apartment. Seeing Grace put a big smile on her face.
“Mommy’s home baby.” – She said, hugging her dearly.
“Hi Anne, we were just going to make dinner…”
“No worries Stacey, I got it. Was everything all right?”
“Of course. Grace is a little angel” – The sitter exclaimed, bringing more warmth around Anne’s heart.
“Thanks so much Stacey. See you tomorrow.”
As the babysitter left, Anne took Grace by her little hand and led her to the kitchen. Grace was almost asleep but she still waited for her mommy to come back home first.
“So, baby what are we going to have for dinner?”
    “Cookies.”
    “Cookies it is.”
After they had cookies and milk, Anne took Grace to bed. As she kissed her forehead, she remembered the text she got earlier. She went back to the living room and dug up a photo album from what seemed to be a completely different life.
Anne looked through the photos from her high school days. Sophie was with her on every single photo, they really were best friends. And then, there was him: Max, Sophie’s brother.
Just looking at that photo with the three of them together brought back more memories than she could possibly take. The nostalgic emotions fed her with dread by the realization that her best friend was not aware of Grace, her daughter. She shut the album and left it on the table.
“There will be a lot of questions.” – She concluded, slowly getting up and going to the shower.

Chapter Two

“Another great game Max” – His coach congratulated him as he was getting ready to get the hell out of there. Max smiled vaguely: “Thanks coach. See you in a couple of weeks.”
“Couple of weeks? What about the game next weekend?”
“It was already discussed, Coach. I’m going back to my hometown. My little sister is getting married.”
“Oh right, that. Well, have fun.”
As the coach left, Max sat down in the locker room. There was something oddly nostalgic about going back to that crappy little town. He did have fun in high school, but he has seen and done so many things since than that he felt as if he goes back, the tiny town will suffocate him.
“Well at least I will see Anne there.” – He smiled. Anne was the only memory that actually made him feel good about going home. After all, she was the only one he had felt something for. Max knew it was probably because they were only teenagers then and they were inexperienced back then, but still he treasured every memory he had with her.
“Baby are you ready?” – Natasha walked in the locker room. Tall, drop-dead gorgeous, blonde, terrific ass. Everything one
