wrong for fucking that nigga up like that,” Mitch commented as he continued to laugh.
They hopped into Malek’s car, and he pulled away.
â€œI know you know you hustling my blocks,” Malek said, no malice in his voice, but his tone serious.
â€œI’m hustling. And I know you used to roll with Joe, but I don’t know too much about them blocks being yours,” Mitch responded.
â€œLook, I ain’t against you getting money. What I’m against is you taking money out of my pocket and you pushing that bullshit-ass product on Joe’s blocks—on my blocks. Now, I’m not trying to beef out with you. If we go to war, don’t nobody make no dough, feel me?”
â€œYeah, I hear that, fam,” Mitch agreed.
â€œSo why don’t we just do this together?” Malek stated.
Mitch was reluctant. “No disrespect, but why would I split what I’m making?”
    â€œBecause I’ve got Joe’s connect.”
    â€œWord?” Mitch said in shock.
â€œLook, I’m going to put it to you like this: You can get down or lay down. This is a movement what I’m about to do, and I want you on my team. If you not an ally, I’m going to consider you an enemy. I’m tryin’a give you a key to the world right now, fam.”
â€œYou actually got Joe’s connect?” Mitch asked in disbelief. He knew that Joe had the best coke in the city for years and that no one could seem to match his product. On occasions, he’d even lied to some of his buyers, saying that he had got the raw from Joe, just to get the sell.
Malek smirked and replied, “Your tune sound like it done changed, fam. You in or you out? I need a right hand.”
â€œI’m in, fam, I’m definitely in. Let’s get this money,” Mitch replied.
Malek nodded his head as he pulled back onto his street. He dropped Mitch off at his car and noticed that the passenger was still ice-grilling him. He got a bad aura from Mitch’s man.
â€œI’ma get at you in a couple days,” Malek said as he slapped hands with Mitch. “But first thing you need to do is get rid of that mu’fucka. He got larceny in his heart. Nigga can’t crank my product or be a part of nothing I’m doing.”
Mitch nodded his head in agreement just before getting into his car.

Chapter Six
O ver the next six months, Malek completely took over the city. He hadn’t seen or heard from Sweets during his takeover. He got word from the streets that Sweets and his crew left town, and he was just waiting to hear from or see Sweets so he could send him to meet Joe.
But what Malek didn’t know was that Sweets had hired an excellent attorney for Manolo. The attorney was able to subpoena the police department’s video surveillance tapes of the precinct where Officer Troy worked. On those tapes they were able to go back to the date that Manolo’s club had been raided, and they saw Tasha going into Officer Troy’s office.
With the threat of Tasha being able to testify and further expose corruption within the Flint Police Department, the department was willing and able to spring Manolo from jail on technicalities—the major “technicality” being that it was an election year and Flint’s incumbent mayor didn’t need any new police scandals landing on the front page of the newspapers if he wanted to retain the slim chance he had of being re-elected.
So, with Manolo being sprung from the joint, he and Sweets were planning to take out Malek. They were just laying in the cut, waiting to catch him out there, high off of his own rising status in the game.
At a young age, Malek had accomplished what many hustlers could never reach: he had a supreme coke connect, an army of loyal henchmen, and intelligence. These were all ingredients to becoming a kingpin. Malek learned from Joe’s mistakes and molded himself into a force to be reckoned with.
