question. “Is Adam with you?” Joe glanced at Adam. He’d heard the question, and pink now tinged his face. Joe smiled, he liked that look on him.
    “Yeah, he’s here.”
“Good.” Callum sounded decisive. “I’m going to pick you up in around twenty minutes, and drop Lee off there to stay with Adam. We’ll come back for them later.” Callum didn’t wait for a reply, and Joe didn’t attempt one.
“Callum sounded in a hurry.” Adam raised enquiring eyebrows and Joe just nodded. That wasn’t Callum’s hurry-up voice, that was Callum’s worried voice. Adam scooted out of bed and reached for a t-shirt. “You go grab a shower. I’ll make coffee.” Adam paused and blushed, realizing it had sounded like an order.
Joe grinned. He reached out and nearly dragged Adam over the bed towards him. He fastened punishing lips over Adam’s startled ones. Before he could think of seriously telling Callum he wasn’t going in, Joe pulled back and set a breathless Adam on his feet. “No time for coffee, Callum will be here in a few minutes.” He smiled and went into the bathroom. He got the quickest shower on record, but he couldn’t turn his thoughts off.
So, he was really doing this, huh? He’d been straight all his life, and now he was gay? Was that even possible? Was it just Adam? He’d known Callum had been out since he was a teenager. Never bothered either of them, and it wasn’t like any guys had ever come onto him or vice versa. He was straight. Okay, he might be straight but being unsuccessful in all his straight relationships didn’t suddenly mean he had picked the wrong sex. It just meant he was a bastard to live with. Maybe this weird thing he had for being needed was too cloying. He’d never fought against getting married either time. In fact, the only relationship he’d fought against was with Adam.
He cranked the water off and berated himself. This wasn’t a relationship. It was—hell, he didn’t know what it was. Maybe he’d been feeling so old it had brought on a midlife crisis or something. Joe paused and took a mental inventory as he dried himself. No, he didn’t suddenly feel the need to wear a bra. He grinned to himself, then stopped smiling as he realized the thoughts of pink bras weren’t doing anything for him, which naturally led him to thinking about other underwear. He shook his head and squeezed his eyes shut. He’d just had an image of a matching pair of briefs and a certain someone wearing them with familiar colored streaks in his hair.
Shit. Joe sat on the bed and put a hand to his forehead. No, he wasn’t hot—so, no bubonic plague or anything. Maybe he ought to get a physical? He stood up and yanked the dresser drawer open for clothes. Maybe he should get a fucking lobotomy.
Joe opened the bedroom door to see Lee twirling Adam around. Shit. He was wearing one of Lee’s green polo shirts. It looked incredible on him. Yeah, lobotomy.
Callum had arrived with Lee. As Joe picked his keys up and followed Callum out, he wondered if brain surgery was itemized on his insurance. They both got in the car without much of a grunt.
“I got a call from the FBI.”
    Joe sat up. “Feds?”
Callum nodded and glanced at him as they were idling at some traffic lights. “There’s been a couple of murders. Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Both young men. Both involved in the lifestyle, although members of different clubs.”
    “Subs?”
Callum nodded. “I think they are warning all the clubs. The FBI wanted to talk to us both.” Callum set his car in drive. “I didn’t like it, Joe.”
A few minutes later they pulled up outside Pure. There was already a black SUV in the lot. Two guys in suits got out as Callum and Joe climbed out. They both flashed badges. Callum nodded and opened up. He headed for the bar area, and immediately plugged the coffee pot on. The guys took stools.
“Halloran?” Joe turned to the black-haired agent who had spoken. “My wife’s sister is married to
