do their own thing,
whatever. As an addition, which Allysin had talked with her about beforehand,
Miri mentioned how much more useful they could be doing work instead of
lounging around in jail cells.
This
kept her busy for the day, managing the removal and cleaning of the dungeons so
that everything went smoothly. Not that the guard captain needed Miri's help,
nor would she really do much, but that's just how Miri was. She liked to
oversee her own projects, and Allysin could understand to a point. When
someone else took over kitchen duty and left the place not at all as spotless
as Allysin would have, she got annoyed and wished she could have watched over
them while they did it. She thought this was kind of like how Miri was, but on
a grander scale.
Anyways,
none of that mattered to her at the moment. With Miri gone, and Thump resting
in Allysin's room, this was the perfect time for Allysin to sneak away from her
daily duties and go have a chat with him. It was mostly Allysin's room, at
least, though Miri was living there for awhile because Thump and her had ruined
her old room when they fooled around in Miri's private baths. Mind, Allysin's
room was Miri's older old room, and Allysin didn't mind sharing it, especially
not with Miri of all people, so it didn't make too much of a difference whose
room it was, but... it was still her room.
This
was her rationalization. Maybe she was going to her room to fetch something
she'd left behind? She needed an excuse in case she changed her mind and
suddenly found herself fearing Miri's wrath.
Knocking
on the door out of courtesy, Allysin hastily opened it and stepped inside, then
closed it behind her. It was nice and bright out, and the windows were wide
open, so the room was well lit. She glanced around, cautious, hoping Miri
hadn't returned for some reason or other. The princess had a huge fascination
with her troll now, and honestly it was kind of getting on Allysin's nerves.
Miri and Thump fooled around a lot, and Allysin put up with it but... couldn't
they wait for her to leave the room, at least? It probably didn't matter too
much, but when she woke up to the muffled sounds of sex happening on the floor right
below her bed, she couldn't go back to sleep.
And
then, not being able to sleep, she still feigned it, while ever so carefully
turning to check out what was going on. Miri always looked lovely, regardless
of what she wore, but somehow she looked absolutely brilliant, practically
glowing with radiance, whenever Allysin caught her and Thump partaking in a bit
of carnal desire. The typical Miri look, a glower or some other haughty
expression, melted away into pure, unadulterated bliss. If angels existed,
which Allysin really wasn't sure about, they probably looked just like Miri did
then.
Allysin
peeked through the room, pretending like she was looking for something in
particular. And, really, she was, wasn't she? She saw him, Thump, sitting on
the bed with a book in his lap. He was staring at it as if he could read it,
though Allysin was pretty sure he couldn't. Not yet, anyways. Thump was
smart, though. Maybe all trolls were? Smart enough that he had a modicum of
language at his disposal now. It probably helped that he understood their
human speech beforehand, but he could do a decent job of communicating now,
too.
"Hey,
Thump," Allysin said, waving.
Thump
smiled a brilliant, toothy and ugly grin. It was the most fearsomely friendly
thing Allysin had ever seen. "Hi," he said.
"What
do you have there?" she asked, walking towards the bed, making a pretense
of wanting to see the book so she could get closer to him.
Thump
furrowed his brow, thinking about it. He flipped the book around in his hands,
peering at the cover, then skimmed through some of the pages as if he might
find the answer somewhere in there.
Allysin
tried not to laugh, but it was hard. "Looks like a book?" she
offered.
"Yah!"
Thump said,
