against him like a long-lost lover newly reunited with his one and only.
    â€œHold that pose!”
The command came from one of the reporters clustered around Kim Li. The girl’s mouth took a downturn when the reporters abandoned her to swarm the new arrivals, but she didn’t remain out of the limelight for long. Sauntering across the shop, Kim Li insinuated herself into the eager circle surrounding Dayna and Luke.
â€œI, too, see picture in paper.” With a kittenish smile, she offered Luke her hand. “Now understand why Dayna play so well today.”
â€œAs you did,” he responded. “I saw you hole out on number seventeen. Wish I could line up putts like that.”
â€œDayna no teach you to putt?” Tch-tching, the Korean shook her head. “No matter. I am very good teacher. I give you lesson.”
Dayna kept her jaw from dropping. Barely. She’d been trying to establish a connection with Wu Kim Li for two days. Luke had managed it in two minutes—while standing with his arm still looped around Dayna’s waist, no less.
She wouldn’t put it past the sexy eighteen-year-old to issue an even less subtle invitation. Cringing inside at the prospect of headlines trumpeting a potential love triangle, she nodded to the autograph seekers queued up by the table.
â€œLooks like we’ve got lots of folks waiting for us. Shall we get to work?”

Chapter 6
T he opportunity Dayna had been hoping for came midway through the autographing session.
A beaming Archibald Cockburren invited everyone in the store to enjoy an afternoon tea supplied by the bakery next door. Lured by trays of cucumber sandwiches, fruit tarts and warm scones begging to be slathered with strawberry jam and frothy cream, the crowd drifted toward the lavish display.
Dayna kept one eye on Kim Li while responding to the eager questions of two kayaking enthusiasts who’d crashed the golf soiree to corner her.
â€œHave you tried the River Orchay, Ms. Duncan? With the spring runoff, it grows to a stonking grade five.”
Young and brimming with eagerness, the two university students reminded Dayna of herself in her reckless youth.
â€œI have,” she confirmed, “but my favorite run here in Scotland is the River Findhorn gorge.”
â€œOh, aye! The spring melt in the Monadhliath Mountains makes that a bonny paddle indeed.”
â€œWill you have time to hit the water whilst you’re here?” the younger of the two asked hopefully. “There’s a foine stretch of white in Perthshire, less than an hour from St. Andrews. Chloe and I would be honored to put our paddles in with yours.”
â€œI might take you up on that if I don’t make the cut for the final round of the tournament.”
â€œOch, there’s no fear of that happening!”
From the corner of one eye, Dayna spotted her target drifting toward a display of antique golf gear. Kim Li was momentarily alone. She’d left both fans and handlers scarfing down scones and fruit tarts.
At that moment Luke moved into Dayna’s line of sight. His broad shoulders blocked her view of Kim Li handlers—and their view of her. Luke’s small, almost imperceptible nod told Dayna he’d intended precisely that.
She wasted no time detaching herself from the kayakers. With a smile and a promise to let them know if she decided to take to the water, she joined Kim Li.
â€œWe didn’t get to finish our conversation in the sauna this morning,” she said, her voice low.
The girl darted a nervous look behind her. “No, we did not.”
â€œYou told your partner at Cypress Point that you would be here in St. Andrews. You stressed that your father would, too.”
â€œHow do you know what I tell her?”
â€œShe passed your message along, as we think you intended her to.”
With another furtive glance over her shoulder, Kim Li leaned closer. “We?” she
