about…this?”
Tracy pulled down the attic ladder. She gestured for him to go up the stairs. Tracy knew what he needed, to feel important. Which meant keep him busy. She needed to get the Fourth of July decorations up before July.  What better way than with help? “I need the Fourth of July stuff down. You know what happened the last time I went up, I came down on my ankle.”
“Nah we don’t want that. I got it.” Bryan was thankful for the distraction. He went up the ladder and shifted around a few boxes until he came across the decorations. Something else caught his eye. He moved closer to some old photo albums and dusted them off. He opened them and smiled. Tracy had kept their photos and souvenirs. They were all there in the boxes.
Tracy was in the living room, on the phone. She’d cleared a path for the boxes. Now she was just waiting for Bryan to bring them down. “Yeah he was outside my house this morning. I don’t know girl. No I’ve seen him around. We are friends, I’m not expecting anything. He has to first admit he has feelings for Gianna, then convince me that she doesn’t feel the same way. I’m tired of feeling like the third wheel in my own relationship.” Tracy laughed dryly. “Then he has to take time to get over that. Which would take too long.” Tracy looked around her house. She was doing just fine. “I can’t see me waiting around for that. I deserve to be his first thoughts outside of God. Yeah, I know. He is a good man and we were good together, but is it enough? Do we have a future? There was a long pause where Shondra was imputing her two cents. “Yes I hear you, but I am not falling back down that rabbit hole.  I’m okay dating for now. My last date with Jonathan was really good.
Tracy hadn’t started dating right away. She was sure that Bryan would see that the birthday present Gianna gave him was entirely too personal. The inside jokes they share undermined their relationship. She had truly had enough of being the third wheel. She surrendered and let Gianna win. She only wanted to Bryan to be happy but not at her expense. When she did start dating it was rough. Max was a jerk, Seth was very snobby, and now Jonathan. Jonathan was okay. Tracy was waiting for the other shoe to drop there.
“He took me to the new restaurant downtown, “The Dream House. You know the one where every section has a theme and each floor has different genres of music. Well danced on every floor. He was pretty good too.”
Tracy stood up and mimicked the dances. She was in mid twirl when she saw Bryan leaning against the doorway smiling. “Oh crap girl let me call you back. I’m in here dancing and making a complete full of myself. Bryan just walked in. He laughed so hard.
“Boy sneaking up on me will get you hurt. She laughed. “Did you find the boxes okay? Bryan, trying to compose himself, answered with a wave of his hands. She saw the mountain of boxes and dreaded it immediately. “Ugh, why do I have to be miss sunshine all the time? Maybe this year I’ll only put up a few things.”
Bryan knew better that’s why he brought them all down. “Yeah right. You know you’re going to have all these boxes emptied before noon.” He looked at his watch oblivious of the time until now. “It’s 9:30 am now, if we hurry we can get it all done. Tracy looked up. “We? Uh okay, beats spending all day doing it. Come on.”
After putting up all the decorations, Tracy found a box that they must have missed. She groaned. “Bryan you won’t believe this but we missed a box. I didn’t know I had this much stuff. Hey will you be around to help me take it all down. Tracy laughed to herself. She walked over to the box and leaned over to pick it up. “Wow, this is heavy she yelled out. I’ll wait for you to lift it.
Bryan finished his shower and through on some clothes he had in the car. He looked at himself in the mirror. “What are you doing? That box can open up old wounds. What do you want
