himself still deep inside of her.
Time eluded him; he was all animalistic feeling. She quivered over and over again and he kept thrusting, spilling more and more of his liquid as high up as it was possible. Eventually, who knew when, she collapsed, dead weight, and he held her, completely spent, but oh-so-satisfied. As his head fell back to the mattress, the stars were still there, but fading, and his body hummed with satisfaction and relaxation. The only sound in the room was their ragged, heavy breathing.
And that moment seemed to last a lifetime…
“Nothing’s changed,” she muttered, sometime later. “Oh, God, nothing’s changed at all between us. Not at all.”
“Sexy witch.” It took all his breath just to manage those words.
Lying pressed together and side by side, she stroked back his hair. “You’re a damn wizard with those hands and your male equipment. Damn you, Damian. I don’t want to desire you.”
“I don’t want to desire you either, babe. We shouldn’t have done it.” He meant his words, but he couldn’t feel regret.
“Yes, we should have done it.” She mocked him, gently. “It was inevitable. We really enjoy one another.”
“We’ll have trouble parting when the time comes,” Damian said, and felt the torment in advance.
She stroked his hair back again. “I know.”
“And I already told you why we can’t ever be together. One drink. Hell, one sip of a drink—”
“Maybe—”
“No maybes. AA is full of people who were clean for years and relapsed.” Damian hated the look on her face and put his hand on her cheek. “You don’t need to risk that. As a matter of fact, I have an AA meeting to go to at ten.” He’d just remembered, and lifted to his elbow to check the time on her clock radio. “Nine thirty. Damn almost missed it.”
She blinked at him. “You’re going to AA now? After this? Do you have to?” She sat up and gave him a fast, and very arousing, kiss. “I don’t want you to leave. Selfish of me, I know.”
Damian didn’t want to go either, but he knew his needs, and not just his sexual ones. He ran a finger down the velvet skin on the side of her face. “First thing I did when I got to the hotel was check out local AA meetings. Babe, this is my life. It’s a daily struggle.” He tried to sound more upbeat than he felt. At the same time, he wanted her to understand that his world was very different from hers. With great reluctance, pain almost, he pulled himself away from her and stood up. “Missing one meeting can be lethal for me. Shitty way to live, but I don’t have any choice. Sorry.” Very sorry. He gazed at her lying on the bed, looking like Cleopatra.
Her long hair spilled over her breasts, the pink peaks staring out at him, blurring his vision. No, he’d had his fun tonight. Now he needed to get serious. He picked his clothes off the floor and started dressing, afraid he’d fall prey to her again if he watched her luscious body. He kept his gaze off of her. “Dress so you can walk me to the door,” he said, good-naturedly.
To his relief, he heard her getting off the bed, and then the rustling of her putting on her clothes. “I wish you could stay all night,” she said, quietly. “I remember how nice it felt to wake up beside you.”
He remembered as well, and his damn cock also remembered as it grew again. “It was always a treat to see your pretty face first thing in the morning,” he said, smiling at her, relieved she now had her clothes on. “Those memories will last forever, but I can’t stay overnight. It would give Miles the idea that we’re getting back together again.”
“We can’t do that.” She sounded disappointed, and he felt the same emotion. She rallied, her voice strong. “Miles comes first.”
“Yes. I’m not naïve enough to think that my visit tonight cured all his problems. It’s going to take a long time.”
“I know.”
There didn’t seem a lot more to say. Damian pulled a small,
