back.
âHey, I want to give you something.â He walked over to his dresser and came back with a black opal ring.
âThis is my grannies. She told me to give it to whoever I wanted to spend my life with.â He put it on her right hand, middle finger.
âYou know thatâs the wrong hand.â She said
âDang, why canât you just take it? God, why does it have to be on the right finger, I gave it to you; ainât that enough?â he asked as he dropped her hand and walked over to his chair.
âIâm sorry. I just thought you should know that if you want to get married, you need to ask me first,â she said walking over to him.
âLook I know. Can you let me just be the man for once and stop trying to be so damn bossy. God! Now I see what my dad was talking about.â
âWhat does that mean?â she said with her hands on her hips.
âJust thatâ¦well sometimes a woman gotta let a man be a man and stop trying to be the woman AND the man.â
âWhat! That is just stupid.â She said as he walked away from her. âBesides I was only making a point. You donât have to bite my head off about it.â
âWhatever.â He grabbed his shirt from the chair and walked out of his room.
âSee you later, Granny. Tell Ma I will be back around ten.â
âOk, be careful,â she said as the door closed.
They got outside and there stood Brenda.
âHey Shaun, wait up,â she called as she breezed past Cheryl. Shaun acted like he didnât hear her, and kept walking.
âI know you heard me. Oh, sorry. I guess you have to walk your dog first,â she said as she got closer to them.
âI got your dog, bitch,â Cheryl said while walking towards her.
Shaun grabbed her arm. âCâmon, I thought you werenât supposed to be around her.â
âShe better keep her damn mouth shut or I will shut it for her.â
âShaun, you better come see what I want, unless you want everybody out here to know your biz-ness,â Brenda said with her head rolling around like it was about to come off.
With that, he turned and walked towards her. Whatever he was saying to her had her about to cry. He wouldnât let her get a word in whenever she tried talking. He walked back over to Cheryl, grabbed her hand and started walking.
âWhat did she want?â
âNothing.â
âThen why in the hell did you go over there then?â
âWhatâs with the million questions?â
âCause, I want to know why she calling you out.â
âLook, just leave it alone.â
She snatched her hand from his. âI will not! Why canât you just tell me?â
âCause it ainât none of your business.â
âLike hell it ainât! You are my business!â She said, acting just like the girls she didnât want to be like.
âLook, donât ask me nothing about her.â
âThen maybe Iâll just ask her.â
âLook, just leave it alone; donât give me the third degree. Letâs just go to the movies like we planned.â
âNot until you answer my question and tell me what thatbitch wanted.â
âLook, you donât have to keep calling her names. Letâs just go.â
âDid I just hear you right? You are defending her fat ass!â
âHell no.â
âThen just tell me.â
âTell you what? Ainât nothing to tell.â
âYou are such a liar!â
âWhat!â
âYou heard me. Obviously you had something to say to her and now you all mad at me for asking. I think its best that I go home.â
âFor what?â
âBecause I donât feel like going anywhere.â
âDamn, you sure know how to spoil a fun day.â
âNo, I didnât spoil anything. All you had to do was answer one damn question, but you would rather take up for that bitch instead of answering
