relieve himself, and if he drank more he wasn’t sure what would happen. But the baron wouldn’t let him out of it, and before he knew it, he drank and once again felt the need to belch.
He let out a loud croak, trying to conceal it with his hand, but everyone heard it.
“What was that, de Bar?” asked the baron, with a surprised look upon his face. “You sounded like a . . . a frog.”
Arnon looked down, thankful to see Gar hopping around his feet. He quickly bent down and picked up the frog and held it up in the air. “I suppose Freya’s pet is just wishing us congratulations as well.”
Everyone laughed and thankfully the meal went on without any more problems. That is, until he got up to dance with his new wife, and stepped on a frog. It wasn’t Gar this time, as Freya had sent her pet up to her chamber with a page an hour ago. This frog was smaller and faster. It hopped out of the way, and he tried to ignore it. He led Freya to the dance floor and everyone started laughing and pointing at him and he couldn’t understand why.
“Brother, look behind you,” Stefan called out.
Arnon turned around to see not one, but a good half dozen frogs following him across the hall. They hopped up and down, scaring the women and making the children laugh. The small boys and girls chased after the frogs, thinking it was some kind of game.
“Are those yours?” he asked Freya.
She looked over to the frogs and then back at him. “Nay. I only have one frog, but it seems as if you have a whole court of them following you, my Frog Prince.”

    Chapter 8

Arnon didn’t dance long, because the pesky frogs wouldn’t leave him alone. He thought it was his brothers’ idea of a good jest on his wedding day, and excused himself from Freya and stormed over to join them at the opposite side of the room.
“I do not think it’s funny, so just stop it.”
Both Stefan and Wolf stopped talking to the lords and ladies of the castle and looked up.
“What do you mean?” asked Stefan.
“The frogs! The wretched frogs. Now stop it already, will you?”
Wolf gave a signal to Stefan, and then slowly put his tankard of ale down on the table. “My lords and ladies if you’ll excuse my brothers and I, we need to step out for just a moment.”
Wolf nodded with his head to the door and Arnon quickly followed him and Stefan out into the courtyard.
“What’s going on?” asked Arnon. “Are you two purposely trying to ruin my wedding night?”
“I had nothing to do with the frogs,” said Stefan.
    “Neither did I,” added Wolf.
“Then why are they here?” Arnon paced back and forth and ran a weary hand through his long hair. “I can’t seem to take a step lately without finding a frog, and now I even croak when I belch. I just don’t understand it.”
“I think I do,” said Wolf solemnly. “It’s Hecuba’s curse. You know she’s cursed all of our siblings in one way or another, though some of the curses have yet to show. I’m guessing this must have something to do with your curse.”
“Curse? Nay.” He shook his head furiously. “I lived the past year as a damned wolf. That was my curse. And Hecuba removed it. You both were there to witness it. I am no longer under that witch’s power.”
“What he says makes sense,” said Stefan thoughtfully. “I don’t understand it either.”
“Well, I think I do,” said Wolf, laying his hand on his twin’s shoulder. “Arnon, I didn’t want to tell you this, but I witnessed something else the night of your transformation.”
“What?” asked Arnon. “Speak up, brother. I need to know.”
Wolf crossed his arms in front of him while he relayed his sad story. “It was at the same time I shifted into my wolf form. I saw something that most people can’t see with their eyes.”
“Bid the devil, spit it out already.” Arnon paced back and forth. “What was it?”
“A frog hopped out of the creek at the exact same time you shifted and your curse
