that resembled fresh coffee and a muscular body covered with tattoos that any woman would want to caress, King Lewis was that dude. Long dreads filled his head, while a smooth but trimmed and precisely lined beard decorated his face. Just like Gunz, King stayed dipped in the latest fashions, but unlike Gunz, King knew that there was more to life than clothes and expensive cars.
For years Gunz had tried to persuade King into his way of life, but King wasnât having it. King wanted nothing more than to build a family, own a couple of clubs, and stack his chips. As far as he was concerned, Gunz could have the dope game; heâd conquer the nightlife.
âMy man.â Gunz smiled brightly as the two men gave each other a pound and a hug.
âWhatâs up? I was just about to come up and holla at you. Where you heading?â
âShit, I was just about to burn out.â
âMan please, go ahead with all thatâ King teased.
âCâmon now, you know Iâm gettinâ old.â
âOld? Nigga, Iâm the one gettinâ old. Yoâ ass only thirty.â
âBut it feel like Iâm forty.â Gunz laughed. âOn the real, though, you doing your thing with this club, man. This muthafucka hot.â
âThatâs whatâs up. You know, Iâm tryinâ to do me. Tryinâ to get this muthafucka poppinâ, but, uh, let me walk you out. I ainât tryinâ to hold you up our nothing. I know you a busy man and all,â King joked, wrapping his arm around Gunzâs shoulder.
âMan, please. Get the fuck outta here.â Gunz chuckled, pushing him away.
âBut for real, holla at me. I got a chocolate party coming up soon, and you know itâs gonâ be mad chicks up in here.â
âRight,â Gunz said, halfway listening. He had just spotted Gray out of the corner of his eye. Although her back was turned, Gunz knew that ass anywhere. He thought about just walking away as if he hadnât seen her, but the way her body looked in the dress she wore told his dick to think otherwise. Grayâs physique was dangerous. It had more dips and curves than a little bit. Gunz knew that he should back away now before one of them got hurt, but since childhood, heâd loved playing with fire.
âAâight then.â He stopped King in mid-sentence. âIâma holla at you.â
Making his way through the crowded room, Gunz approached Grayâs backside. Without saying a word, he wrapped his arms around her waist, leaned down, and placed a soft kiss on her exposed shoulder. A smile instantly formed on Grayâs face. Gunz didnât have to say a word. She knew his scent anywhere. For days sheâd dreamt of it.
âWe gotta stop meeting like this, ma,â he whispered, lightly biting the side of her neck.
âWho said we were meeting?â Gray pulled away from his embrace and turned around.
âYo, what I tell you about pullinâ away from me?â He took her hand. âStop doing me like that.â
âAre you serious? Gunz, please. I havenât heard from your ass in over a week.â
âI know that.â He pulled her back into his embrace. âQuit trippinâ off old shit.â
âOld shit?â Gray cocked her neck back.
âIâm just sayinâ everything ainât as it seems.â
âAnd what is that supposed to mean?â
âDonât worry about it. You coming home witâ me tonight?â
âNo.â
âWhy not?â He gazed deep into her eyes.
â âCause.â Gray looked away, feeling overwhelmed.
âIâm right here.â He turned her face back toward him. âWhy you lookinâ over there? Now, why you ainât coming home witâ me?â
â âCause Iâm not fuckinâ witâ you like that, thatâs why.â
âWell, guess what? Iâm still fuckinâ witâ you, so fuck all
