sign. Finally, she saw a tendril of fog. Something inside her soul tugged at her a little, and the fog moved faster.
“Open a crack, baby.”
The ship opened the hatch and the fog with Durz’s bio signature eased through the crack after thickening on the ground to the point where the guards looked down and dismissed it.
It took him close to an hour to ease in using that technique and when he was fully inside the ship, the Fairy sealed herself and began to power up beginning with interior services.
When she heard the secret knock on her door, Gwyn slipped out, kissed Durz and then slid past him to settle in the command chair. She could see him looking around for their passenger, so she silently asked her baby to show him the scene in the main bay.
He covered his mouth and was laughing silently while the ship lifted off gently and then shot upward as fast as she could manage. It was a good thing that Durz could go into mist, because he would have been flattened otherwise.
Once they were in the air, she said, “He couldn’t decide if he wanted to hide or be frozen and the alarm went off, so I made up his mind for him.”
“Understandable. I am surprised you let him dither that long.”
“I was feeling magnanimous.” She snorted and shifted to hit the planetary shield at the correct angle. The shields were designed to keep ships out, not prevent folk from leaving.
She controlled her breathing, put an electric charge through the hull and punched through the Yerio shield and into the space beyond. With pursuit beginning on the ground, she used the three moons to change her direction and then put on as much power as the engines could provide. The nearest jump point was hours away, but she had nothing but time.
“May I go wake him up?”
“Do you want some alone time with me?” She batted her lashes at him.
He walked up to her and wrapped his mist around her, steering clear of her jacks. “He is fine where he is.”
Laughing, Gaze updated Nitza with her situation, and she was given the best news ever.
“The Gold Fairy is on its way to you. Hand the ambassador over and you are free of him. I will make a note that you are no longer welcome on Yerio.”
“Thanks, Nitza. What is this guy’s power anyway?”
“Classified, but I think he and Govern will get along just fine.” Nitza snickered evilly.
“I hope so. Gaze and the Blue Fairy heading toward rendezvous.”
“In that case, I will send you the location.”
“That would be helpful.”
Gaze chuckled and looked forward to some more time alone with Durz. His braille reading was coming along and the progress through the Kama Sutra was an amazing motivator, for both teacher and student.

Blue contacted her sister. “We are on our way to you now.”
“I know. I just got the briefing. Govern is pissed. She was about to break her personal record for push-ups.” Gold was amused.
“Govern is always pissed. Well, that or bizarrely jovial. I never know. We have him. This is the one from your image. I was kind of surprised when I saw him at Gaze’s side.”
“How is your pilot doing with her new mate?” Gold was curious; it showed in her tone.
“It is strange. They are dancing around each other, but they come together when it comes to sex. I think the companionship will take a bit to develop. Nothing like the bond that we have with our pilots, but it might come close one day.”
“I hope so for their sakes. They deserve bonds as good as we are.”
Blue couldn’t disagree. They would be together soon, hull to hull. They were sisters of design and bonded mind to mind. Gaze could enjoy her new mate; he had just joined a rather large and eccentric family.
She would break it to him gently.
Author’s Note
Well, the last of the Fairies is going to fly in the next book. Govern . The Gold Fairy is piloted by a very frustrated Terran. Despite her implants and the care taken to ease her pain, it doesn’t always work,
