want you to know that, okay,” I said in a serious tone.
    â€œI know, Ma, I know.”
I turned around, picked up the laundry, and headed upstairs with a load in my hand, and on my mind.

Chapter 13
Shawn
    Gate Wide Open
November 2 nd , 2018, 10:13 A.M .
I was contemplating killing James as I sat in my chair at work. I couldn’t believe that muthafucka was out of prison and living with my pedophile of a father. I checked my database for any info on him and found out that he’d just got out of jail. What I didn’t understand was how he and my father hooked up again. That shit was mind-boggling. As soon as I thought I was back on the right side of the fence, here his ass go opening the gate again and dragging me back through.
    Bzzz!
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of my secretary buzzing into my office.
â€œMr. Black, you have someone here to see you. He has no appointment, but he says he isn’t leaving until he sees you.”
â€œOkay. Tell him to hold on, and I will be with him in a minute.”
Before I could get up and make my way to see who had shown up unexpectedly, in waltzes James, of all people. This bastard had the nerve to show up at my office.
â€œHow are you doing, Shawn?” he said, a cynical smile on his face. He immediately made himself comfortable, like we were old college buddies or something.
â€œFine.” A one-word answer was all I could muster. My emotions on the inside were a bit volatile, and I knew I could blow at any moment.
My next thought was to buzz my secretary and get her to call security, but I opted otherwise. I had to see what this lunatic wanted now.
â€œHow can I help you, Mr. Parks?” I wasn’t gonna let him make me act a fool again.
â€œShawn, why you actin’ all professional and shit? You know, any other time your ass would be calling me by my first name, especially when we made love.” He smiled even harder after that.
â€œJames, we never made love. I was just fucking you. You know that. Like the whore you were.” I was smiling now.
James had the look of defeat on his face. He just sat there like he had something to say. I had taken a seat after my last comment and started fumbling through some papers on my desk, trying to distract myself.
â€œLook, Shawn, this don’t have to get ugly, if you just cooperate,” he said, breaking the silence.
â€œWhat in the hell are you talking about?”
â€œYou know what I am talking about. Stop playing dumb, Shawn. You know good and well I said I was coming to get my kids.”
â€œYour kids?” I said, bristling. “You don’t have any kids. They are my kids, not yours. You got that, shit-chaser?” I stood up, ready to kick his ass.
â€œSo what you are telling me is that you want to go to court for custody of my children?”
James stood up as well. He actually thought he could come up in here in my office and demand to take the children I raised and nurtured? He was dead wrong. Dead wrong.
â€œShawn, I know for a fact that you and Mona have not told my children about me. They don’t even know I exist, do they?”
â€œWhy should they know about a home-wrecking faggot?” I said as I walked around the desk. I knew I couldn’t even begin to explain to Alex, Ashley, and Diana about James Parks. What was I going to tell them? That their dad and mom had sex with the same guy and he was their father? I still couldn’t bear the thought of it myself, never mind speak about it.
â€œShawn, if you don’t tell them, then I will, and I know for a fact that you would love to keep the ‘happy Huxtables’ together forever. You and Mona think that you were going to keep secrets and never tell me about my offspring. You two are crackheads if you thought I was just going to walk away and let this be. You know I can’t do that shit.”
I had to admit that he had me by the balls. I did want to keep
