big date tomorrow. Oh. Shit. Bobby was coming over.
Nik flew out of the kitchen and ran up the steps. He turned on the shower and started to shave while he waited for the water to heat. With his face smooth, he ducked under the hot spray. He quickly shampooed his hair and washed his other body parts thoroughly before drying off.
As he walked into his bedroom, water continued to drip off the black ringlets of his hair and down his chest and back. He opened his drawer and began to dress in his usual style of too-big sweat pants and an extra large T-shirt. There was something about baggy clothes that made him feel comfortable.
He stood at the foot of his bed and thought about making it just in case Bobby came up, but pushed the thought away. He’d never been the kind of guy to put out on a first date and they hadn’t even gone on one of those yet.
As he made his way downstairs, he looked at the state of his living room and groaned.

Cleaning was one of the chores he had planned for the day before Bobby had called him.
He gathered the dirty clothes from beside the sofa and ran them to the laundry room before starting on the newspapers. After those were tossed into the recycle bin came the dirty dishes that littered the coffee table.
“Well, there is an actual table under there,” he commented with a giggle. As long as he kept Bobby in the living room, hopefully the detective wouldn’t think he was too much of a slob.
By the time the doorbell rang, Nik was worn out. He brushed his wayward curls out of his face and opened the door. “Hi.”
“Hey,” Bobby greeted with a grin.
Nik stepped back. “Come in.”
He led Bobby into the living room. “Can I get you something to drink?”
“Sure, whatever you’re having is fine.”
Nik gestured to the couch. “Make yourself comfortable. I’ll be right back.”
He rushed to the kitchen and opened the fridge. He hoped he had a bottle of wine left over from the previous holiday season. Squatting down, he searched the shelves. Damn.
His choices were cherry Kool-Aid or apple juice. He wondered if he had coffee. That was a more grown up drink, right? He was standing in front of the refrigerator chewing on his thumbnail when he heard Bobby step into the room.
“Everything okay?”
Nik pointed at the fridge. “I was trying to figure out what to get you.”
Bobby stepped up behind him and put his hands on Nik’s shoulders. “Juice would be fine.”
Instead of pulling the juice out of the open refrigerator, Nik stayed where he was, relishing in the warmth of Bobby’s touch. He turned his head and tilted it up. Oh God, oh god, oh god.
Bobby lowered his head and pressed his lips against Nik’s. The kiss was gentle, but sure, just like Bobby. Nik turned and threaded his fingers through the back of Bobby’s hair as he opened his mouth.
A moan escaped him as Bobby’s tongue swept the interior of his mouth. The sound seemed to fuel the kiss even more as Bobby wrapped his arms around Nik’s waist and pulled him in.

Snug against the big detective’s body, Nik couldn’t imagine a better place to be. He brushed his tongue against Bobby’s, getting in on the erotic play.
Bobby was the first to pull back, breaking the kiss. He stared down into Nik’s eyes and smiled. “I actually didn’t come here for this, but I couldn’t help myself.”
“I’m glad you find me irresistible,” Nik teased.
“I do. There’s just something about you that fascinates me.”
“Well feel free to study me anytime you’d like.”
Bobby loosened his hold on Nik. “We really do need to talk.”
“Okay,” Nik whispered before standing on his toes for another brief kiss. Although Bobby kissed him back, Nik could feel a bit of tension creeping into the man’s shoulders. He broke the kiss and stepped away from the temptation. “Two glasses of juice, coming up.”
