Stephanie sat on the couch in the living
area and watched the flame of the candle dance as Nathaniel stacked
wood next to him. He found a small axe and started to chop smaller
pieces, perfect for kindling. In a matter of a few minutes, he
rolled up newspaper, lit it on fire, and got the kindling started.
Then he added the bigger logs, structuring them so they’d
catch.
    They did.
For a billionaire, Nathaniel looked even
hotter building a fire. There was something manly about it, his
strong hands with the ax, his strong hands building the fire, his
strong hands working to keep the fire going.
The flames were high enough and alive enough
that Nathaniel finally backed away from the fireplace. He blew the
candle out and turned to Stephanie, putting his hand out. He pulled
her to her feet and placed her near the fire. As he slipped behind
her, she couldn’t help but make out the definition of him as he
touched her.
    He was still semi hard.
Stephanie bit her lip to keep from moaning
as her mind flooded with sexual images of the things they could do
on the couch, in front of a roaring fire…
“Warm yet?” Nathaniel asked as his hands
slid around Stephanie’s body.
One hand was near her breasts, one hand near
her slit, both over the robe. It was a commanding stance to take
but also protective.
Stephanie wouldn’t have wanted it any other
way.
    “It feels amazing,” she said.
“Good. I need you warm, rested. We have a
long night, and weekend ahead of us.”
    “We do?”
“Of course. We’re here for a business
meeting, aren’t we?”
The words lingered as Stephanie was forced
to remind herself again that Nathaniel Anders was her boss. Not in
sexual terms either. Beyond Wolf Top Lodge, beyond the raging snow
storm. He was the CEO of the company. He was the one who held
Stephanie’s fate even though, ironically, he held her body right
then.
“I guess we are,” Stephanie said.
“Business and pleasure,” Nathaniel said and
then he kissed the top of Stephanie’s head.
The fire snapped, throwing sparks up the
flume. Stephanie tensed for a second and wanted to step back but
couldn’t. Nathaniel’s body blocked her.
“Come with me for a second,” he said.
He grabbed her wrist – not her hand – and
gripped it tight. The small movements that Nathaniel did drove
Stephanie wild.
She followed him away from the fire, feeling
the coolness of the lodge settling in.
Nathaniel walked to the front door of the
lodge and put his hand to it. There was a dim light from the fire
flowing through to the door.
“What are you doing?” Stephanie asked.
    “Proving a point.”
Nathaniel unlocked the door and opened
it.
There was a hard gust of wind that forced
Stephanie back a couple steps, taking her breath away, as the cold
chill surrounded her like a strangling, hungry snake. The snow came
in too, millions of flakes instantly stuck to anything they could,
most of them melting the moment they touched the floor. When
Stephanie turned to her side, thanks to the glow of the fire, she
could see the snow.
The wind made a horrifying sound as it raced
its way in, not enough doorframe for all the wind that wanted to
come in. The howling made Stephanie crunch her shoulders up, but
that did nothing. The wind continued to pound Stephanie.
“Nathaniel,” she said, “please… close the
door…”
Nathaniel slammed the door and locked it,
letting silence fall back into Wolf Top Lodge. The floor was damp
and the place felt ten degrees cooler. All Stephanie wanted was to
go back to the fire. Go back to Nathaniel’s arms wrapped around
her. Holding her. Touching her. Wanting her.
    “Do you understand now?” Nathaniel
asked.
    “I don’t…”
Nathaniel pulled at Stephanie again, her
body crashing to his. He held her again. She wanted to smile and
melt into him.
“You never know what waits beyond what you
have,” Nathaniel said. “It’s a hard thing to understand, to believe
it, and
