too much,” he said,
looking at my dress.
I bit down on the inside of my cheek to suppress the cutting
reply that threatened to spill out. I couldn’t entirely erase the annoyance
from my voice when I replied, “I can afford to buy my own clothes, thank you
very much.”
Jake seemed caught off guard by my strong reaction, but that
didn’t break his calm demeanor. A minute lift of that perfect eyebrow, and a
murmured “My apologies” were all the reaction I got from him.
“By the way,” I said, digging into my purse, “here’s your
credit card back.”
“I’m sorry if you were offended by my presumption. I didn’t
think it would be a big deal,” he said, slipping the credit card into the inner
pocket of his suit jacket.
“I just don’t like to feel like a ‘bought woman’. I’m
perfectly capable of taking care of myself,” I said.
“I can see that. I was just trying to make it easier on you.
Many people wouldn’t have been prepared for this unexpected trip. I didn’t want
you to inconvenience yourself any more than you had to,” he added contritely.
My resentment went out the window with his confession. I was
surprised at his thoughtfulness. It brought a warm smile to my face to think
that he was thinking of me.
“Don’t worry about it,” I said. “Fact is, you didn’t
inconvenience me at all. You actually did me a favor.”
“A favor?” he asked, surprised. “How so?”
“You gave me an opportunity to wear this dress. It’s just
been sitting in my closet for years.”
“I’m glad I could be of service,” he said, nodding his head
in my direction.
My stomach grumbled involuntarily amid the silence in the
cabin.
“Have you eaten anything today?” Jake asked, a note of
concern in his voice.
“I must’ve forgotten,” I replied, shrugging my shoulders. My
mind had been laser focused on preparing for tonight, that I had forgotten to
eat.
“You need to eat more,” he admonished. “You should be taking
better care of yourself.”
“I think I can stand to skip a few more meals,” I joked,
patting the soft rounded pouch of my belly.
“I don’t agree,” Jake answered seriously. He unbuckled his
seat belt and headed towards the refrigerator by the bar. “I’m sure there must
be something in here to eat.”
“It’s fine. I’ll eat when we land. You do have dinner
planned for us, don’t you?” I asked.
    “You should eat something now.”
Jake bent his long lean form down in front of the mini
fridge, rummaging through the items in there. Thoughts of food were quickly
replaced by how sexy he looked in his dress slacks. The soft cashmere fabric
hugged his body to perfection. Memories of his naked body the night before
came unbidden into my mind. He was so goddamn gorgeous, I sometimes didn’t
think he was real—like a Greek statue come to life. And he wanted me. Reliving
the scenes of him taking me and using my body for his pleasure and bringing me
to orgasm over and over again sent a tingling sensation deep within me. I
suddenly had a hunger for something other than food.
“There doesn’t seem to be anything to eat in here,” he said,
looking at me sheepishly.
“Hmm, well I’m sure there must be something else I can
nibble on,” I said, looking at him intently. He caught the heated desire in my
eyes, and his expression changed in an instant at my words. His eyes bore into
mine, his lust plain to see. It excited me to think I could turn him on so easily.
I wanted Jake to take me right then and there on the plane.
“I think you’re right,” he said getting up and walking
towards me.
He moved with the fluid grace of a panther prowling in the
jungle. Gone was the easy nonchalance, and in its place was a hungry animal
ready to ravish me.
“Come,” he said, grabbing my hand and lifting me from the
seat.
    “Where are we going?”
    “To my bed.”
“You have a bed on the plane?” I asked, as I followed him to
the back of the plane.
