strange reaction to violence.
"Ssh, come here, it's okay, we're okay." I pulled her body
into my chest and tried to sooth her; this shit couldn't be good in her
condition.
Without sparing another look for the dead goon in my hallway I
walked her backwards into the apartment.
    "Breathe baby."
"He was, I wasn't, what if?" She shook like a leaf as
she rambled; I knew what she was trying to say. We were almost ambushed, she
hadn't been prepared.
Right now my only concern was the safety of her and our child, I
knew enough to know that this type of stress wasn't good for them.
"Babe, you gotta breathe, look at me, breathe in, hold it,
breathe out, keep looking at me, there's nothing else, just you me and
him." I put my hand over her flat tummy.
"You with me, it's all about him, you get overexcited he
doesn't stand a chance against that kind of stress, knock it back babe."
I pulled out my phone while I held her against me.
"I need clean up at my place." I closed the phone and
headed to the couch with her in my arms. We sat like that until she calmed down
and I could think once more.
    "I'm done."
"Thank fuck." I knew what she meant; she was done with
her vigilante bullshit.
"Are you still gonna leave me?"
    "The bag's empty Mouth."
"The...you..." She tried taking a swing at me.
"Settle your ass down, the guys will be here any minute to
take that piece of shit outta here, when they're done I'm packing your ass up
and moving you to the estate, maybe being surrounded by peace and serenity will
do something for your murderous tendencies." She had the nerve to snort.
"Or you could take up hunting since you're so blood thirsty,
my poor kid is fucked and he isn't even here yet."
"Hey, what do you mean by that?"
"Where's your bow babe, you not planning to pin my ass to the
wall by way of my neck are you? What I mean is that instead of a mom who bakes
him cookies and sings him lullabies, he'll have you, at least my mom and
sisters will be there to give the little tyke all the motherly love he
needs." Who said I had to fight clean? This chick is certifiable, I've
been saying it since the day we met, now I know how true that shit is, she's
beyond anything I've ever seen or heard of. I can't use the usual tactics on
her because they don't work, it's like an on going battle, obviously I'm paying
for some past sin or some shit.
    "I can be motherly."
"Yeah, was it a mother who went out and nailed James to the
wall in an alley, how the fuck did you find him there anyway?"
"You sure you want to know?"
I just gave he my don't fuck with me look.
"Okay, okay geez, I lured him there."
    "How?"
"I pretended to be Teresa with new information on me, hah he
took the bait, you should've seen his face when I showed up, I was on top of
one of the buildings, I called down to him and when he turned I let him have
it. No muss, no fuss."
"Baby, you do know you're a little touched right?"
"I'm not crazy Flanagan, I just like to get shit done, same
as you, you just don't like it because I'm a girl."
    "No, because you're my girl."
"Maybe we can work something out..."
"Hell no, you just told me you were done,...I give up,
obviously this thing is bigger than I, you don't care what I think so it's up
to you, like I said, my mom will take care of junior and make sure he gets all
the TLC he needs while you do your thing."
"No one's raising my kid but me, I said I was done didn't
I?"
"I think I heard that before, you're not too big on keeping
your word."
"Are you calling me a welsher, if I say I'm done then I'm
done."
"Like I said, heard that lie before, not falling for it
again, just please try to give my kid a chance at life before you get him
killed."
She looked at me like I'd slapped her, honestly, I didn't give a
fuck, this girl wasn't like me or anyone I knew, she'd fucked me into a coma
and went out and killed a mother fucker, all in a days work.
"That's just plain mean, try to get this through your head,
James was a threat, do you think
