and Jess.
“ADDY, ADDY, ADDY!! OH, MY, GOD! You are bleeding!” Jess is picking my head off the garage floor and cradles me. I feel her tears fall on my face.
“I’m ok now that you are here.” I sob.
“YOU MOTHER FUCKER! I WILL KILL YOU!”
I look up through my non swollen eye and watch as Michael, with one punch, knocks Curt out cold. In that moment I know that I truly love Michael. I feel his warm arms picking me off the garage floor and whisper, “You are safe now my beautiful girl.” And he kisses my head. I feel myself being lowered onto the bed and Michael and Jess are barking orders out to people. I am suddenly tired and Michael is talking to me to keep me awake. I feel something cold being pressed on my forehead and Jess is still crying.
“Don’t cry, Jess, I will be ok.” I slur out, Jess leans down on the bed.
“You are lucky that I am a stickler for time. If I was late all the time like you are…this might be a different story.” Her voice trails off and I grab her hand and give it a squeeze.
“Where is my Britty?” I ask. I suddenly realize I don’t feel Michael and try to sit up, but as soon as I do it’s lights out for me.
I wake up to a humming sound and Michael’s head on the side of the bed. I realize I am in the hospital and try to sit up. Michael wakes up.
“No moving Addy, Doctor’s orders.” He runs his hand down my face gently and a pained expression is on his. He leans down so his head is close to my ear. “He will never hurt you again, I swear to you. I will protect you Addison, always.” His voice stern with conviction as he kisses the top of my head and I see a tear slide down his face. I place my hands on each side of his face and wipe his tear away.
“I love you Michael Simon Crestmoore. I am sorry I have hurt you, please forgive me.” Michael looks at me with a small smile on his face and tilts his head.
“My beautiful girl, stop apologizing. There is no need for that.” I pull his face to mine to give him a kiss, but he stops me. “No, No, my girl, remember what I said about the kiss?” He is smiling so his dimples are showing. Oh Michael, you beautiful, beautiful tease!
“But I am injured, can’t you just give me one little peck?” I playfully tease.
“Nope, like I said before Addy, after I have done things to you.” He winks at me, like that makes me feel better; ok it does a little.
“Crap what time is it?” My head is starting to pound. Michael takes my hand.
“It’s three in the morning love, and before you ask, yes your mom and dad, Jess and Rissa have all been here today. Well, technically yesterday.”
“Today? How long have I been here?” I asked getting panicked. Michael squeezes my hand.
“This is going on day three.”
I take a long breath, “Can I get some ibuprofen? My head is fucking killing me.”
Michael chuckles, “Of course love, the nurse will be in soon to ask you some questions since you are awake. Addy, I’m just letting you know this. When you are cleared to go home, I will take you to your house. You are going to get some things and then you will be staying with your parents. This way Susan can get off my arse about you being home alone.”
I start laughing and stop right away the pain sears through my body and I moan. “Oh.My.God! That hurts!”
“Yes, love, it’s going to hurt. You had a few ribs bruised and a slight concussion.” Michael looks at me with a grave look on his face. “I wanted to kill him Addy. I pulled in right when he punched you in the face.” Michael squeezes his eyes shut and tightens his lips. “And I would have if Skyler wasn’t there holding me back.” He looks back at me like a man on a mission “I love you Addison Mire Baxter, I have since I moved here, and now that I have heard those same words from you; nothing will keep me from keeping you safe. No one will ever hurt you again.” He bends down and gently kisses my cheek and then the top of my head.
