Beau returned.
âWhatâs that about?â Roman frowned, squinting into the monitor.
âBoys, can we focus?â Jewel intervened, sending both Beau and Roman a stern look.
âThank you, Jewellen,â I piped up. âWhatâs the next step?â
Danila suggested, âI think we should send something out to all our clients. Get some preventative statement in front of them, especially since it looks like Kevin is going after them one by one to see if any has a grudge. And then we need to start leaking Kevinâs dirt to the media. Letâs make him the story.â
âThat sounds solid.â Carter tipped his head in admiration.
âWe need you back stateside by Saturday,â Beau announced.
âWhatâs on Saturday?â I asked.
Beau and Belle exchanged sappy grins. âWeâre eloping to Vegas.â
âWhat?â we all exclaimed.
âThe wedding kept getting bigger and we kept shifting the dates and reallyâit was too much. Weâre just going to gather up immediate family, some of the BellaRich staff, and let the Bellagio do the work.â Belle said.
Roman smirked. âHave you told Madere and Pops yet?â
âActually, with all the upset over Katrinaâs troubles . . .â Beau began.
âOh no.â Carter shook his head. âDonât even try it, pretty boy. You are not using this to get out of telling Madere that you are depriving her of a big church wedding.â
Jewel chuckled, âMan up, Beauregard.â
Beau sat back with a sigh. âFine. Belle and I will call them in a second. Check your e-mails for details on the wedding this afternoon.â
âLooking forward to it.â I beamed. âGod knows Iâm ready for another sister. Even-up the odds at the family gatherings.â
âIndeed.â Jewel nodded.
âWhatever.â Roman cut eyes at me and Jewel. âAnyway, do you all need anything down there or are you good?â
Yazlyn choked on her cup of coffee. âI doubt there is anything we can do for them to improve their current circumstances. I meanâlook at her, look at him, look at where they are!â
âHate is so unbecoming on you, Yaz,â I said, preening. âIf you need us, you know how to find us.â I reached out and slammed the lid of the laptop shut.
âSo . . .â Carter started in a silky voice.
âSo . . .â I purred in answer.
âDo we . . . need anything?â
âI think weâre good right here.â I put my hand atop his on my thigh and threaded my fingers through his.
âI do believe youâre right.â He leaned in a little closer.
âWe can still hear yâall!â Belleâs voice boomed out from the laptop speakers.
âYeah, if youâre gonna get it on at least let us have video to go with the audio,â Yaz implored teasingly.
âAnd thatâs enough of that,â Romanâs voice snapped out before the musical tone indicating that the conference had terminated sounded.
I laughed shortly. âAnyway . . . blue skies, great climate, excellent company. What more could a girl want?â
We smiled into each otherâs eyes.
âYou still have work to do today?â I asked him.
âI could, but I donât have to. You?â
âDitto. We should do something,â I murmured.
He took another sip of his water and I watched the muscles in his throat convulse as he swallowed. My eyes fell to his torso and I sat, mesmerized, watching his chest rise and fall slowly as he breathed. A vein at the side of his neck pulsed and I observed it all with fascination. I wanted to know how every single thing, inside and out, of Carter Evan Parks worked. I noticed his lips moving and realized he was talking to me.
âIâm sorry, what?â I asked breathlessly, licking my lips in sudden thirst.
âI asked, Katrina, if you had something specific in mind that you
