out of myself in front of Terrance and Lucifer. But I don’t need some goddamn babysitters. I need to help find Vera.”
She walked back toward the door and to Elle who was still crying. Angelina pulled her into her arms and hugged her tight.
“We’ll find her. We’ll make a plan and we’ll find her.”

Chapter 6

Elle and Angelina had met with detectives working the missing persons cases. Eloi and Johnny had gone along with them and there didn’t seem to be any leads. Vera’s parents were devastated and organized a group of family and friends to hand out flyers and notify people of Vera’s disappearance. They had been at it all day and night Saturday and Sunday. When they weren’t passing out flyers, they were consoling the family and helping to make meals as people visited Vera’s parents’ home. Sunday afternoon, the local media broadcasted the story. They interviewed the parents and also Elle and Angelina because they were seen with her last. It was eight o’clock on Sunday evening when Angelina arrived at her apartment with Ellena and Leon.
“You look exhausted. You’ve been at this for two days with no sleep. Why don’t you take a shower and go lie down. Leon and I will stay here.”
Angelina didn’t want to argue. She felt so tired and weak. She hadn’t been eating or sleeping well at all.
She hadn’t even responded. She just headed into the bathroom to shower and change.

“I’m worried about her. She’s not sleeping or eating. She’s making herself sick over this.”
Leon pulled Ellena into his arms and held her.
“She’s taking it hard. This is a terrible situation, but the detectives are doing their best to find Vera.”
Ellena pulled back and looked up into his eyes.
“Do you think Vera is still alive?”
He swallowed hard. She had a feeling he was trying to be positive for her sake.
“Let’s hope so. I really don’t know, Ellena.”
“Honestly, in your experience how does it look?”
    He hesitated a moment.
“Not good, simply because if she was taken by the same individuals that took the four other women, then they were never found.”
“Oh God, I can’t believe this. I can’t believe that Angelina could have been taken. I just can’t seem to stop thinking about that night either.”
“I think she’s doing the same thing. Angelina understands the feelings of being out of control, of not knowing what’s right or wrong because of the drugs and also how she acted with Terrance and Lucifer Bouchet.”
Just then they heard the knock on the front door.
“I’ll get it,” he said. Ellena wiped her eyes and held herself together. As he opened the door, he greeted Terrance and Jacque Bouchet.
“How’s it going? Did she finally get home?” Jacque asked then greeted Ellena.
“She’s exhausted and taking a shower.” Ellena turned and sat down on the couch. She wondered why they were here. She hoped that someway, somehow, they could help Angelina get through this. Angelina wasn’t talking to anyone about her feelings or her fears. She was focused on finding Vera and now after talking to Leon, Ellena wondered if that were even a possibility.
“So what brings you by here?” Leon asked as if sensing Ellena’s concern over their presence.
Jacque ran his fingers through his hair and Terrance looked pissed off and on edge. Ellena didn’t like it.
“We wanted to come over to see Angelina. See if we could help her and maybe straighten out a few things.”
    “What things?” Ellena asked.
“Ellena,” Leon began to interrupt, but Jacque spoke up.
“It’s okay. I think there was a bit of a misunderstanding between Terrance and Angelina that night at Dominate. We want to clear it up, so she’ll understand how we really feel about her.”
“Just you and Terrance?” Ellena asked.
“The others, too. We know she’s hurting right now and she’s worried about Vera. We don’t want to bombard her with too much at once, but we’ve put
