boy." I said bluntly and then blushed. "I'll love our child either way, but I want a boy."
His blue eyes were dark. "Why?"
"Because I want him to have your shit-grin - and your eyes - and your heart." My voice croaked. If someone told me a year ago that this was where I would be now, I would have pissed myself in laughter. There was no way in hell I would have believed that in only a short year, so much would have changed. In the months to come I would be married to the man I loved more than I ever could have imagined possible - I will be married to the man of my dreams. I will be a mother to his child and I will finally have the family I always dreamed of having but never believed I deserved. I was richer than all of the kings in the world because I had Jace. And, what he'd given me was so much more than money could buy. It was priceless.
Jace set his plate on the counter. His azure eyes pierced me as he rounded the counter in slow strides. My heart raced and my hands trembled. I really did love this man with all my heart and soul. The thought of being without him was unacceptable. Unfathomable. Impossible.
His hands rested against my hips and he dipped his head so his forehead pressed against mine. He inhaled a deep breath and I knew he was breathing me in. My heart fluttered in response. When he finally spoke, his voice was deeper than usual. It was filled to the brim with heavy emotion. "I love you, Olivia. You don't know how you changed me and I can't even begin to explain, but I can tell you I never want to go back. You gave me reason to live and not just exist. In this world where real and fanatical mesh, you showed me the damaged can be blessed. I'm honored to be the man you've chosen and I will forever love you and cherish you. Anything you want, I'll forever be weak to deny."
His lips brushed against mine before his tongue traced the line of my lips, tasting the sugary sweet glaze from the cinnamon roll. He pulled away and I realized his eyes were closed. It was like he was savoring me. It made my stomach clench in desire and my heart flutter as though suddenly filled with butterflies. It was a beautiful, hypnotic sight. It was perfect. Jace was perfect. Everything about him called to me on a primitive level and I knew it was not him who was helpless to deny; but it was me. I could never dream of rejecting him something he desired. I ached to be everything and more than he needed. I longed to quench his thirsts. I yearned to dull his dark memories and replace them with ones worthy of his beautiful light.
I placed my hand against his face, cupping his cheek. He leaned into my touch and I saw the first hint of vulnerability in the man I loved. With his eyes closed and his heart bared to me, I saw everything - his wounded soul - his jagged heart and his demons. And, I loved it all.
"You're all I'll ever need, Jace." I whispered. "I need you to believe this."
His eyes fluttered open and they were burning with emotion so strong, I was rendered breathless. "I do believe, Angel. You've showed me."
With that, he brought his lips down on mine in a kiss to rival all others. Not even the famous kisses captured by the light of a camera and studied through history could rival this. It was soul crushing, earth shattering and world burning. It was consuming. My entire body felt his kiss as his hands moved to the sides of my face, his fingers dipping into my hair. It was the essence of love and in it there was desire - belief - faith - dreams. Everything pure and real found its way into this kiss. And I lost myself to it for a blissful moment where there was only Jace and I in the entire universe. In this moment, I fully believed our love could power the life of the universe. It was that strong.
When we pulled apart, simply for need of air his eyes were hot, his face filled with adoration and I knew I mirrored him. He handed me my plate with my roll, leaned over the counter for his and led me back into the living room with
