house entirely to myself, and I had taken the opportunity to sneak some of my dad’s vodka from his over-stocked drinks cabinet and mixed it with some ice-cold coke. The sun was beaming down on me as I lay in my green and purple flowery bikini, sprawled out on a sun lounger as I listened to the birds singing in the trees behind our house. The sky was a deep shade of blue and I basked in the warm glow as the sunlight washed over my quickly bronzing skin, camouflaging the freckles on my chest. I was enjoying myself so much that I went back inside to refill my drink twice, getting gradually tipsier as the afternoon wore on. I watched through my sunglasses as the sun slowly crept across the sky, and was debating whether or not to take a dip in the pool when I heard a voice calling over to me. I looked to my right and saw a face peering over the fence, waving and smiling cheerfully. I lowered my glasses and raised my head to look back.
“Hi!” came the voice again, and I realized it was the neighbor girl.
“Hi there!” I responded, hoping she would leave alone in peace.
“I’m Caitlin...” she said, and I knew she had no intention of letting me be.
“Emma,” I replied, nodding in her direction and smiling politely, but she continued.
“I was just going to come out and soak up some rays when I saw you from my bedroom window.” she said, pointing up at the back window of her house. It was obvious she wanted to join me by the pool and make friends, and being the Good Samaritan that I am, I invited her in.
“Would you like to join me?” I asked, hating myself more with each word that I spoke.
“Yeah, sure!” she chirped, and within seconds she had made her way to the adjoining gate and was walking through into our garden. As she appeared through the gap in the fence, I saw that she too was wearing a bikini, and was dismayed to see that she looked way hotter than me. It was a skimpy, navy blue two-piece that clung to her body and barely concealed her modesty. Her dark hair flowed down her back like velvety curtains obscuring her pale skin, and her breasts jiggled slightly with each dainty step that she took towards me. I stood up and held out my hand to shake hers, quickly realizing that I hadn’t made friends with anyone since I had started school, and had no idea what the correct procedure was. Instead of meeting my hand, she raised up both of hers and flung them around me, embracing my body closely with a welcoming hug. I was taken aback by her friendliness and by the softness of her white skin as I ran my fingers nervously over it. She pulled away and smiled at me, taking a second to look over my body. Her gaze seemed to pause on my breasts for a split second longer than felt strictly normal, so I decided to break the sudden tension.
“Would you like a drink?” I offered, starting towards the kitchen as she trailed behind me. I kept looking back at her and making small talk, and I’m sure a couple of times I caught her staring at my bum before averting her gaze with a cheeky grin. I led her inside and opened the fridge, waving at the contents as I listed the options available to her.
“Coke, lemonade, white wine...” I reeled off the list.
“I’ll have what you’re having, if that’s okay?” she asked, and I nodded, taking out the coke and grabbing some ice, a glass and the vodka, which I had recklessly left on the kitchen counter. I decided to pour myself another one while I was at it, feeling the exciting buzz of the alcohol running through my body.
“Thanks!” she said politely as I handed it to her, and then waved her out to the garden. We both took a seat on a sun lounger next to each other and sipped at our drinks. I watched intently as she placed her lips up to the glass, almost caressing the transparent surface as she took some of the drink in her mouth. A droplet of condensation rolled down the underside of the glass as she pulled her lips away, streaming around her thumb and dripping
