Hannah repeated. She looked up, catching a glimpse of herself in the dresser mirror. Did her mouth actually look swollen?
“Your client’s never been Nate Fox before, rock star fantasy and total hottie.”
Well, that was true, but it did little alleviate the guilt she felt about violating her personal work ethic.
“Just ask yourself this—was it worth it?” Gina asked.
The smile came back, unbidden, as the memories flooded her brain and flushed her body with heat. “Oh, yeah.”
“Whoa,” Gina said, frowning. “I thought this was going to be just one night.”
“What makes you think it’s not?”
“That look on your face,” Gina said. “You’re practically licking your lips. Don’t you dare fall for him.”
“I’m not,” Hannah denied. “That’s ridiculous. Just because the sex was good—” Incredible. Stupendous. Mind-blowing. “ —doesn’t mean I’m imagining white picket fences and children.”
“Sure,” Gina said dubiously. “So how are you going to make it through the shoot today?”
“Like the complete professional that I am,” Hannah said.
Like the basket case she was going to be the minute she saw him again, knowing that she was going to have to keep her hands to herself from now on.
The agreement had been one night to work the lust out of their system. It didn’t matter that she was still feeling incredibly lusty.
Gina laughed. “Yeah, and I’m going to capture every minute of your utter professionalism on film. You know, I’m really beginning to enjoy this assignment, even though I’m not the one getting hot sex.”
“I didn’t say the sex was hot.”
Gina burst out laughing. “Honey, the look on your face has told me almost everything! I still want details, but at least I know he blew your mind from here to next Tuesday.”
“Here to next year ,” Hannah said. “You’re right. No matter what, it was worth it. It was definitely worth it.”
“Sometimes you just have to go with what your hormones are telling you to do,” Gina said. A slow smile curved her mouth, and she sighed. “Remember that time in Phoenix? I met that guy watching the photo shoot? That still rates up there as one of the best weekends of my life.”
“Maybe so,” Hannah said. “But you didn’t have to work with him afterwards, and have everyone wonder if he hired you because you were good in bed. I mean, will people think I’m working for Nate because we’re having a relationship?”
“You’re having a relationship now?” Gina asked. “How did it go from one night with complimentary breakfast to a relationship?”
“That’s not what I meant,” Hannah said. “You know, if you weren’t my best friend, I’d have to fire you.”
    “Yep,” Gina agreed.
“We’re going to have to keep what happened to ourselves. He just doesn’t need that kind of publicity.”
“If someone finds out, so what? It’s the music business, babe. Everyone thinks rock stars sleep around.” Gina ducked away from the pillow Hannah tried to throw at her and got up, stretching languidly. “I need to check the equipment and make a few phone calls. I’ll meet you at Fisherman’s Wharf.”
Hannah had a long list of things she had to do, too. Top of it was figuring out how to build a working relationship with a man whose tongue had traced all the intimate spots on her body. A man she wanted again.
Poor planning, that’s what it had been. Note to self. Next time, job first, sex fest afterwards.
Wait. That had been the plan. But somewhere along the way, she’d completely lost focus.
Hannah peeled off her suit, trying not to remember how Nate had done it the night before. She failed. Every garment removed, every brush of cloth against her skin, reminded her.
Her shower felt really, really good, in more ways than one.
Towel wrapped around her wet hair, but otherwise, naked, she opened the closet and surveyed the outfit she’d packed to wear today. She wished she’d brought something
