failed. She didn’t need to hear him say he enjoyed the pain, denial, and everything else that was so very wrong in order to reach his own desires. Her body betrayed her, and she felt nauseous from the pleasure he had given her. She had only been in his presence for a day’s time, and already she had failed miserably. Coming twice by him had her covering her face with her hands and crying silently.
“Shhh, sweet Ruby.” He had her in his arms seconds later, and just held her. The soft, almost affectionate stroking of his hand down the back of her head was soothing as much as it was disgusting. She didn’t want to feel anything but hatred for this monster, didn’t want to press her face to his chest and breathe in the dark, spicy scent of the cologne he wore. And she especially didn’t want to feel safe and sated in his arms, because none of this was right or sane.
But she didn’t push him away, didn’t try and run again. Instead she let him carry her away. It wasn’t just his physical strength that scared her, but the fact he could look at her and make her feel like he could see right into her soul. But even though she knew this with every part of her, she vowed that she would still try to escape. And if she was going to be this man’s sex slave, then she was not going to make it easy for him. But on the heels of that thought she felt even sicker, because didn’t she just submit to him far easier than a captive should?
Chapter Six
R uby listened to the deep, even breaths of Gavin beside her. After he carried her out of the kitchen she had thought he would take her to the blue and silver room he had showed her when she first came here. Instead he had taken her to the room across from that one. Presumably it was his, and the dark-colored theme seemed to fit his personality well. It also made sense that he would want her in the room closest to his, but then she wondered why give her a separate room anyway if he meant for her to be his little plaything?
None of that really mattered when the end result was still the same. She had been lying on her back, staring at the white textured ceiling for hours. She was naked, as was Gavin, but she hadn’t fought him when he removed her dress, and she hadn’t given any reaction when he got naked as well. Although she had tried not to look at him while he undressed, it was hard not to. His body was perfect with broad shoulders, thick biceps, and a chest that was defined, as if he worked out hard to get that desired effect. She was angry with herself for thinking such things, and for taking an interest in him at all, but it was hard not to when he was right in front of her and seemed totally unselfconscious in his nudity around her.
She glanced over at him. He was on his back with the black sheet draped across his waist. His abdomen showed the hard lines and ridges of his muscles, but it was the raised part of his anatomy right below the sheet that drew her eyes. He had been so very hard when he took his slacks off, but all he had done was climb in bed beside her, wrapped his arm around her waist, and pulled her in close. And then he leaned close to her and kissed her temple as if they were lovers. He had spoken to her for a few moments, telling her he didn’t have to be back at work until the day after next, and that he would show her around the property. Ruby hadn’t said anything, and didn’t care about his life in the least.
The bizarre and misplaced pillow talk had gone on far longer than she would have liked. She didn’t want to associate with him, didn’t want to find common ground. He wanted her to be okay with all of this, to just accept that this was her fate. Fuck that.
Now that he was finally in a deep sleep and she was no longer trapped under the heavy, muscular cage of his arm over her belly, she gathered her courage to move. Forcing herself to stay awake even though she was exhausted was hard, but escaping and the thought of her freedom had been a very
