function through the lack of blood flow in my brain.” Jagger pressed
another kiss to her lips before he pushed off the bed. Ophelia got to watch the
man, her man walk away, thoroughly
enjoying the play of muscle under the tanned flesh.
“Holy
shitballs, you are smokin’.” She was fanning herself when she spoke to him but
knew that he hadn’t heard her. At least, she didn’t think he had heard her,
until she heard him laughing. “You weren’t supposed to hear that!”
It
only made him laugh harder and louder. She listened to the sound trail off
through the house. It was a great sound and one she hoped to hear often.
Chapter Nine
Soft
sounds reached him from the hall. Knowing it was Ophelia making her way to the
kitchen, Jagger moved to the coffee pot to pour her a cup. She would likely
need it. He’d kept her up late and woke her several times through the night. He
was fucking insatiable for her. “Good morning, sweetheart.” Handing her the mug
handle first, he pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Sit your cute ass down and
get to work on the coffee. Breakfast is still five minutes out. I hope you like
French toast.”
“Good
morning.” She took the cup from him, barely even looking at him. He waited
until she had taken several drinks before he even nudged her. “Love French
toast.” She did, however, move in closer to him and give him a kiss on the
cheek before she walked away. The little minx patted his ass when she walked
past him, too. Brat would pay for that one.
“Cute,”
he muttered. Letting her settle down with her coffee, he got back to the
business of making her breakfast. Maybe he’d let her have a nap later. He might
even let her actually sleep. He’d likely have to since she didn’t have his
stamina and he didn’t want her getting worn down.
Four
minutes later he loaded up two plates and took them to the table. He slid one
in front of her and set the other in the spot to her right. After refilling
both their mugs, Jagger sat down next to her, making sure his thigh brushed up
against hers. He waited until she took her first bites.
“God
this looks good,” she told him after setting down the half-empty cup of coffee.
“Smells amazing, too.”
“Eat
up. Later we’ll take a nap, one where I’ll let you actually sleep. Right now
you need to get some food into your body. I think I might have worn you out.”
And he was feeling only slightly guilty about that. He liked the idea of
wearing his woman out on a regular basis.
“I
think you might have, too, but God what an amazing way to be worn out.”
Giving
her a kiss, Jagger lingered for a moment before pulling back. She really did
need to eat. They also had a few things to talk about, like the fact he’d
bonded them together. Which she probably didn’t even realize had happened when
he’d bitten her the night before during their first round up against the wall.
“You have a look on your face like you’re really not certain about anything
right now, either that or you look like you’re trying to figure out how to tell
me something so how about you just tell me and get it over with?”
He
should’ve known better. Ophelia had proven at least once that she was a pro at
reading him. Why he was surprised she knew something was up, he couldn’t even
guess. He just had to come out and say it. “Remember last night when we got
frisky in the tub and I got us out of there so we didn’t drown? The good stuff
up against the wall, and then I bit you. I’m sure there’s a better way to go
about this but I’m going off the cuff here. I bonded you to me. It was
instinctual for the bear to want his mate permanently. Does that make any sense
or am I just babbling?” He could see it the moment what he had said clicked in
her head. “Wait, what? Bonded? As in, forever?” He saw the panic on her face. “What
if you don’t like me in a week? What happens then? Jesus, I was engaged and he
tossed me away literally a week
