rubbing.
“No .” She may have fooled me, but the giggling gave her away. “I’ve been tied up, forced to keep my hands to myself, talked dirty to, tickled, teased, and tortured until I was finally allowed to succumb to the hands of my captor.”
“Oh my god, you poor thing,” I told her.
“I know. I was under so much duress I actually screamed out the F-word, which I never do.” She raised her eyebrows, trying to look frightened.
“You think that’s bad, I was practically raped, right here on my own bed.” I raised my brows also.
She fell back on the be d and laughed as she looked up at the ceiling.
“You’re beautiful,” I told her seriously.
“So are you.” We stared at each other for some time. “Do you wanna shower with me?” she asked quietly.
“Yes, and then I want to fall asleep with you in my arms.”
    “Sounds perfect,” she said.

She was still in my arms when I woke up. I remembered her saying she wasn’t a morning person so I carefully backed away and got up without waking her. I got the water hot for tea and chopped veggies for omelets before I felt her arms around me from behind.
    “Good morning,” she said.
I turned to her and hugged her, “Good morning. How’d you sleep?”
    “Mmm, so good.”
“You sound pretty happy for an un-morning person.” I kissed the top of her head.
“ Must be the company,” she said.
“I want to make you breakfast. Veggie omelets and tea, just like the other morning at the Bistro. How’s that sound?” I hoped she’d eat, but I wasn’t going to push it.
“Actually, I’m starving.” She seemed surprised by that. “Can I help?”
“No, you cannot. ” I sat her on the stool. “Here’s the paper, and here’s your tea. Relax.”
“But I don’t read the paper.”
“Okay, what do you do?” I got busy at the stove.
“I get up, crabby, usually about nine or so since I work late. I make my bed, make a cup of tea, clean my apartment, shower, run errands if I need to, and then get ready for work. Pretty boring stuff. What do you do?” I hoped her life wasn’t as boring as that, but I had a feeling it was. That had to be tough to go back to after the busy days in treatment.
“I do about the same as you, but throw in some fun stuff , too. You’ll see.”
    “I’ll see?” She was surprised.
“Yes, if you want to, that is. I’d like to spend a serious amount of time with you when we’re not working. Once school starts I won’t have as much free time, so I want to take advantage of it now, with you.” I loved having someone to spend time with finally.
“That would be…” She looked down at her tea. “Well, I don’t know what that would be like, but the thought of it is really exciting.” She looked back up at me. Her expression was hard to read. It was happy, but sad, too.
“Why don’t you look very excited then?”
“It’s just so different from what I’m used to. Having someone who wants to spend time with me. I hope I don’t disappoint you.” She was so honest. I realized she’d never had what I wanted to have with her. Even growing up, she was alone most of the time. It would be different and scary to come out of what had been your comfort zone your whole life. And, of course, she was worried about disappointing me. She didn’t think she had anything to offer me.
I sat on the stool besi de her. “Brynn, I love spending time with you. I’m thrilled to have met you in this time of my life. I’ve had heartache and pain, just like you have. I’ve spent years in dark places, wanting to feel something again, but thinking I never would. I decided that was no way to live, so I got help, treatment, just like you have, and I finally feel like my old self again, even better. I want to live, love, smile and laugh with someone who wants to share those things with me. The first date we had, at the beach, I saw it in you. Playing in the water and watching the waves roll in. I felt a closeness with
